True Love's Cry

Chapter 14

In the morning, I walk into the town with River. By the time we got done speaking with the queen last night, it was past curfew, which meant I was stuck…at the castle. It was not so bad actually, because I went off with River and did not have to deal with Parker.

 As we come into the town, it seems everyone decided today would be a good day to get out. It is difficult to get through everyone, but we manage it. River sees Parker, Cole, Nakayla, and Blaire talking. However, I feel Asher and Maddox are near as well. I mean they usually are with Blaire, at least from what I can tell.

 “Hello, people.” River calls.

  They turn to us. I glare at her.

 “What?” She asks, nervous.

 “Nothing. Just forget it.” I say, going over to Cole.

 I smile and look up him. I see his warm hazel green eyes that I love so much. I notice that Nakayka is talking to Blaire. Parker is conversing with his sister.

 "Hey, Kierra.” Cole says.

 "Hey, Cole.” I smile.

 "How are you?”

 "Fine.”

 Then I hear it. The phrase I can't stand to hear. "Ooo...”

 I turn and cut them off. "Finish what you were about to say and see what happens.”

 Maddox and Asher both shut up, but they look scared.

 Cole says, "It is interesting that you can do that.”

 "What do you mean?” I ask confused.

 Cole looks at his brothers.  "They don't usually listen to anyone.”

 Asher and Maddox both say, "She scares us.”

 I say, "Then maybe you should stop talking to me the way that you do. Be nice.”

 Maddox states, "Maybe you should start being nice as well.”

 "Maddox is right.” Asher backs him up.

 I watch as they then turn and run off. Blaire watches then go and a moment later she leaves too. Nakayla comes over to me.

 She tells me, "You know I have to agree with those boys. You aren't exactly the nicest person ever, but we love you anyways. I mean I do and that is what counts, because let's face it. You don't have many friends.”

 "Gee. Thanks, Nakayla. You know I don't understand why we are friends.” I respond.

 Nakayla smiles. "I can answer that. It is because I can actually deal with you.”

 I roll my eyes. I look away from Nakayla and see Parker. I notice that River must have left.

 Parker speaks up. I'm scared of what he is going to say. "You know I think you are supposed to be nice to your friends.”

 Nakayla turns on him. "Please if that were true, I would have to be nice to you and that is not going to happen.”

 I have known Nakayla long enough to know she is joking. However, whenever she speaks it sounds like she actually means it. So, if someone did not know her, I hope she would be smart enough to act normal. Although, I'm not sure Nakayla would know what that means.

 "Well, this is boring. I'm going to go. Come with me Kierra.” Nakayla states.

 "Why do I have to go?” I ask her.

 "You're actually...you can be a fun person unlike these boys. ”

 Then Nakayla walks off before anyone can say anything to her. A moment later I turn and follow Nakayla. We go over to her house. I'm not sure why. I mean what are we going to do here? I guess I will find out.
