I walked over to Newt, who was leaning on one of the wooden trunk supporting the hut's roof.
"Do you think I made a mistake?" Newt asked without looking up at me.
"Are you really asking my opinion on leader-related stuff?" I joked, and he looked up at me. He had a small, forced smirk, and I let out a breath, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I think you did the right thing. I trust Thomas. He's gonna get us out of here," I said, and he nodded.
"What if the others hate me for that? For letting him into the Maze?"
"Everyone is not Gally. He's just scared, he doesn't know what to expect. He will come around eventually I guess," I tried to reassure him, but even I wasn't sure about that. He looked down at his feet, and I reached out to him, putting a finger under his chin to make him look at me. He looked like a lost puppy, and I had a small smile. "We're gonna be fine. Okay? We're gonna find a way out, and live happily ever after."
"You do know there's no chance we'll live happily ever after, right?" Newt said, a slight smirk creeping up on his face. I shrugged, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Then we should enjoy the moment. Do you have anything to do right now?" I asked, my eyes going from his eyes to his lips. He licked his lips, shaking his head.
"Except checking on Alby, checking on the girl and wondering what the Hell this note meant, no, I'm all free," Newt stated and I rolled my eyes, sighing.
"You know how to ruin a moment, don't you?" I said, my arms loosening around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me flush against him. His face was just a few inches away from mine, and my eyes fell to his lips.
"I don't think I ruined anything," he whispered, before crashing his lips against mine. I kissed him back immediately, my hands instinctively grabbed his hair, pulling him to me. He smiled in the kiss, slightly pulling away.
"Huh-huh, come here," I mumbled, pulling him back to me before he could protest. We kissed again, and his hands wandered under my shirt, rubbing circles on the small of my back. That kind of touch felt new, and I let out a small, breathy moan. He pulled away, a smug look on his face.
"Guess someone's enjoying themselves," he whispered, and I rolled my eyes.
"Slim it," I laughed, leaning in to kiss him again. He leaned in but slightly dodged my lips, and I ended up kissing his cheek. I was about to complain when his lips touched my neck, sending sparks in my stomach. I closed my eyes, and he slightly pushed me until my back hit the hut's wall. I could feel my heart beating faster, and one of my hands went down to Newt's back. His teeth slightly grazed the skin on my shoulder, before he kissed my neck all the way back up to my lips. I tugged on his lip with my teeth, and he smirked, slightly pulling away.
"Are we really doing this here?" Newt whispered, his voice slightly raspy from what I guessed was arousal. I licked my lips, leaning my forehead on his.
"First of all we aren't doing anything, and where the Hell do you want us to do this?" I asked, laughing. He pecked my lips, then looked straight into my eyes.
"I like you a lot, Lily," Newt whispered in a soft voice, and I smirked, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks.
"As if I hadn't noticed," I joked, trying to hide how everything felt like fireworks inside of me. He laughed, shaking his head. "I like you too, Newt."
He looked back up at me and kissed me again, and this time one of his hands wandered to my bum, pulling me as close to him as he could. My back arched at his touch, and I tugged on his hair. He let out a small groan and I smirked, biting his bottom lip.
