Evelyn

5 Hours Before

Before Evelyn fell into a pile of rocks, she thought that everything was going fine. Like any other day, she was practicing her archery with her siblings. She stood next to her brother Will Solace, who was about as straight as a rainbow slinky, and watched him get a bullseye. Evelyn on the other hand, could not shoot for shit with a bow. With a gun, however...well let's just say at capture the flag games, Chiron reduced her skills to grazing arms and legs.

"You suck," stated Will. Evelyn glared.

"You swallow," responded Evelyn.

"Spitters are quitters."

"You seriously did not just put that mental image in my head," grimaced the daughter of Apollo. Will shrugged and shoot another arrow at the target. "Anway, I'm gonna head to bunker nine. Leo said he wanted some help for a prank he was going to pull on the Stolls for trashing his cabin."

"See you at the campfire," said Will as he shot another bullseye. Evelyn started to make her way to the arena when the son of Hades ran into her.

"Woah, watch it Zombie Dude," said Evelyn as she wiped the invisible dust off her jeans.

"Oh, sorry," he said distractedly, which was strange, since the son of Hades rarely ever apologized and usually he was never distracted.

"You okay?" asked Evelyn.

"When am I ever?" he asked sarcastically. Evelyn smirked.

"When you're with a certain brother of mine," she commented with a sly smirk. There was a tinge of red in Nico's cheeks.

"Shut it, Bradshaw."

"Anyway, wanna accompany me to bunker nine to help Leo pull a prank?"

"Why would I want to do that?" remarked the son of Hades (aka the best character in this book).

"Because I can hook you up with Will," Evelyn offered.

"He's already my boyfriend you ignorant child. But, since you asked oh so nicely, I'll come with you."

"Awesome!! WOW!!!" she exclaimed. Nico groaned in annoyance.

"Is every child of Apollo obsessed with that gods damned musical!"

"I never throw away my shot at a chance to listen to the soundtrack." Evelyn said. Nico should've shadow traveled away at that point but Evelyn had suddenly disappeared by Zeus' fist in a pile of rocks.

"Evelyn?" he called.

"IN HERE!" said a pile of rocks.

"Eve, where are y- GAH!" Nico fell into the pile of rocks as well and let's just say that neither of them made it to bunker nine.

"Who the shuck are they!?"

"Minho don't panic, but I found them in the maze. It's fine only one of them tried to kill me," said the girl from the maze.

"Don't panic? Kathleen, people don't just show up in the maze!"

"You think I don't know that! Look, let's just take them to Alby, see what he thinks of them," they argued.

"Alby is going to lose his klunk when he sees them! The chick literally has a gun strapped to her back and the guy has a shucking sword!"

"Chill, Maze Guy, these bullets won't harm you, nor will Zombie Kid's sword for that matter," Evelyn informed them. She didn't show it, but she was actually really shaken up. She was a new demigod. She didn't experience the Titan War, or the Giant War, and she hoped the Fates would be nice enough to not start another gigantic demigod slaughter just after two back to back wars.

"My name is Minho, shuck face."

"Well then, Minho, I am Evelyn Bradshaw and this young man here is Nico Di Angelo," retorted Evelyn, sarcasm dripping from her words.

"How in Grievers balls do you know your last names," questioned Minho.

"What do you mean?" spoke Nico, his hand inched toward the sword strapped to his waist.

"What I'm saying is that no one remembers their last names, just their first. Heck, my name is the only thing I know," Minho said bitterly. Evelyn and Nico shared a confused glance.

"Uh, guys, we should get to the Glade soon, it's almost sunset," reminded Kathleen, which broke up the little argument.

"Klunk," cursed Minho. "Get ready to sprint like your lives depend on it, 'cause they do. And let's hope Alby doesn't banish you."

"Follow us, and if you fall back, you won't survive the night," they said ominously. The two maze runners sprinted off. Nico and Evelyn looked at each other before sprinting after them.
