ASTRID PACED AROUND the room as she thought of a plan to get out of this planet. "We need to find Peter now and get off this damn planet." She said, she wanted to go now and find Peter. He was on her mind the whole time, worried for him.
"Ego will have won him by now. He has a way of—" Mantis tried to continue but Nebula cut her off. "Then we just go." This infuriated Astrid, why in hell would she leave her brother. Her family. Her best friend.
"No. He's our friend" Gamora said. But Nebula seemed to disagree with that statement, "All any of you do is yell at each other. You're not friends." Astrid just scoffed and let out a small laugh that caught Nebula's attention. "You're right. We're not friends. We're family. We leave no one behind—"
"Maybe expect for you." Drax pointed at Nebula who rolled her eyes and let out a 'oh my god'.
It was only a matter of seconds until Gamora and Rocket had gained connection. The transmitter that Gamora had kept during the journey beeped with a commection. "Finally. Rocket?!" She asked.
"Keep that transmitter nearby so I can find you. We're in an old piece of construction equipment Yondu once used to slice open the Bank of A'askavaria."
"Ego's unhinged." Gamora said.
"I know. Get ready."
The Guardians and Astrid didn't hesitate to exit the sleeping quarters. As soon as they were outside, they rushed out into field running towards the palace. But then all of a sudden, a large wave of light exploded causing the Guardians to shield their eyes from the light.
But that didn't stop them from making their way to the palace. As soon as the light faded away, they continued to run towards the palace. Now they were at the front door, Drax didn't hesitate to kick down the door breaking it apart.
There they saw Ego surrounded by a blue aura and behind him was Peter, a glowing blue tentacle pierce through him. "Peter!" Astrid yelled out in fear, but to their surprise and to Ego's as well. The ship that Rocket talked about flew into the room by the window.
It flies towards Ego and in a matter of seconds he was smushed by the laser drill. The tentacle that pierce through Peter disappeared in seconds, letting him go on the floor. The ship doors open revealing Groot waving at the Guardians.
Astrid didn't think about anything else, all she thought about was the safety of Peter. So instead of making her way into the ship like Drax, Mantis, and Nebula, she joined Gamora. Picking him up and having his left arm around her shoulder, the two helped each other walk Peter to the laser drill. "We told you that something didn't feel right." Gamora hissed.
"'I told you so' Just what I needed to hear right now." Peter said as he groaned in pain. "Well, we came back didn't we." Gamora said. "Because there's a unspoken thing."
"There is no unspoken thing."
They make their way to the ship where everyone else was waiting, "What's smurfette doing here?" Peter joked and still he had humour in times like this, Astrid thought. "Whatever I need to do to get a ride home." Nebula mumbled.
"She tried to murder me!"
"I saved you, you stupid fox."
Astrid tolled her eyes at the comment still not getting the memo at how many times she's told her. "He's not a fox!" She exclaimed. I am Groot, "I'm not a raboon either!" I am Groot, "Raccoon, whatever."
Astrid looks out the window and sees more of the blue glowing tentacles emerging from the palace floor. "How do we kill a celestial?" Astrid asks turning away from the window.
"There's the centre to him. His brain, his soul, whatever it is. It's some sort of shell." Peter explained in which Mantis continued. "It's in the caverns below the surface."
Soon the blue tentacles reach out for the laser drill, wrapping itself around the drill. Peter made his way to the ladder going in the upper deck. While he's there, Astrid stays with the rest of the Guardians. The grip of the tentacles only worsens and rocks the laser drill, sending everyone stumbling.
"Thrusters are out!" Yondu says.
"He's here?!" Astrid yells in despise, she soon got on her feet and climbs the ladder to the control room.
"I guess I should be glad I was a skinny kid. Otherwise you would've handed me to this maniac!" Peter says.
"You still reckon that's the reason why I kept you around you idiot?!"
"That's what you told me, you old doofus!"
"We're out here in the middle of trying to kill a celestial and we're talking about how skinny Peter is?!" Astrid yells now irritated by the fact they were mere seconds from death.
"Once I figured out what happened to them other kids. I wasn't just gonna hand you over."
"You said you were going to eat him!" Astrid joined along, motioning to Peter. "That was being funny!" Yondu said turning to Peter who looks at him with crazy in his eyes. "Not to me!"
"You people have issues!" Rocket says below them. Of course they do, Peter's father is a frickin celestial who wants to take over the galaxy and Yondu and Astrid's parents literally abandoned them behind. The three look out the windshield and see the skeletal system of Ego's body forming.
"Of course I have issues! That's my fricking father right there!" He yells pointing at Ego. "Thrusters are back up!"
The ship is guided by Peter who moves the ship forwards instead of up. It goes through the gigantic Ego and towards the massive pane window, breaking the beautiful stained glass.
Instead of flying up towards the skies, it just plumets down towards the ground. Astrid falls back on her bottom and hits her head on some piece of debris. She groans in pain but then yells afterwards as she feels her stomach dropping just like the ship is too.
"We should be going up!" She managed to say. "We can't. Ego wants to eradicate the universe as we know it. We have to kill him." Peter explained. "Rocket!"
"Got it!"
"You good there Ingrid?" Peter yells at Astrid, she just lays down waiting for the drop to end. "Yup!" She yelled back. Then all of a sudden the lasers that are attached to the ship hum as they fire down at the ground, making way for the ship to pass through.
Peter flies the ship perfectly through the tunnels and corners. But for Astrid it wasn't very fun as she was being tossed around on the floor as Peter flies. She hits the wall multiple times swearing to herself to beat the living hell out of Peter as soon as this is over.
"So, we're saving the galaxy again?" Rocket asks. "I guess" Was all Peter said before continuing to man the ship while Astrid continues to be thrown around. "Awesome. We'll be really able to jack up our prices if we're two time-galaxy savers."
Astrid laughs at the comment, "I seriously can't believe that's where you mind is right now Rocket." She holds herself steady on the backs of Peter's chair.
"It was a random thought! Man, I thought we were friends." Rocket said. Astrid just shakes her head and smiles before answering Rocket once again. "Of course we're friends. You just think of things at the most inconvenient times!" And once again, they turn a corner and Astrid goes flying off, hitting a wall.
Rocket continues on about his though. "Of course I care about the planets, and the buildings, and the animals that live on it."
"And the people." Peter added.
"Meh."
Astrid hears a high pitched giggle from the lower deck and instantly assumes it's Mantis and to her luck it was. "The crabby puppy is so cute he makes me wanna die!" She exclaims.
"Your suicidal thoughts saddens me, but your wish is most likely to come true." Drax says making Astrid roll her eyes at him secretly.
"We're not going to die, Drax." She scolds him. But of course Drax always has to be so negative. "Not yet."
