THE FIGHTING CONTINUES while Peter stays on the floor all bruised and cut. There's a big blue light that shines on them, Astrid looks back and sees a glowing blue figure. It was Ego being created back in his human form, it sent chills down her spine as she saw him.

His skin was pale as hers like it was drained of its blood and his eyes pure black. The tentacles only became worse there was too much for Rocket, Yondu, and even Astrid herself to fight off. Soon the tentacles slammed Yondu on to the ground and wrapped around him like a sandwich, same with Rocket. It was just her, she stayed a few feet away from Peter as she saw her friends being taken by Ego she definitely knew she was next.

Peter turns around sees what happens, Astrid was next. The tentacles take her by the foot and they suck her down through the ground as if it was quicksand. She tries to squirm out of its grasp but more tentacles come for her. They take her by the hands and her neck.

She sees her friends as well as she's being taken as well. Maybe this was it, she thought. She couldn't do anything to help, yes she had powerful abilities but she had no idea on how to use them and so making them limited. She couldn't protect Peter and his friends.

"I told you I don't want to do this alone. You cannot dent the purpose the universe has bestowed upon you!" He yells. Astrid sees a tentacle stab through Peter making him go down his knees. "Noo!" Astrid cries out with tears going down her face.

More tentacles pierce through Peter in multiple places, he groans in pain and looks up as he is being drained of his power. Soon Ego's core is being powered once again by Peter, it glows brightly enough to almost blind someone. "It doesn't need to be like this Peter. Why did you have to destroy our chance? Stop pretending you aren't what you are! One in billions, trillions, even more. What greater meaning could life offer?"

Astrid struggles to stay above the ground as the tentacle tightens on her. "I don't use my head to fly my arrow, boy! I use my h—" All of a sudden the ground covers Yondu's mouth, silencing him. Peter's eyes fill with tears as he remembers his loved ones, the moments that made everything better when they weren't.

There sat a young Peter with his mother on their front porch of their house, both sharing the same pair of headphones listening to some old music Peter's mother picked.

Then there was Drax and Peter in the Milano, laughing together at a joke Peter made. His hand on Drax's shoulder as he bends down in laughter.

Then the image of Peter and Rocket with a baby Groot on his back appeared, they were flying with their aero rigs on in the cotton candy coloured skies. Both smiling at each other with pure happiness.

Yondu and Astrid showed up next. It was Yondu showing two young Astrid and Peter how to shoot a gun. They were in the forest being taught, Peter turns to Astrid who smiles at him before adjusting the way he held the gun.

Then lastly it was a picture of Gamora and him looking at each other like they meant everything to each other. Peter held her hand on his, making sure to never let her go.

These were the moments he saw before he thought of dying. He just wished he could share it with everyone.

He returned back to reality, still thinking of all the moment he had with his friends and family.  He knew he couldn't just give up, no he couldn't. They deserve to live out their lives and Peter couldn't just let that go to waste.

He looks up at Ego with such hate, his hands curled up into fists. The pebbles on the ground starts to float around him, he floats off of his knees and is now inches off the ground. His own blue glowing lights start to emit around him, Ego looks at him with confusion on his face.

Ego looks down at the ground below him as he feels slight rumbling, he then looks at Peter who's filled with so much hatred for this man. "You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my walker." He snarled at him before he goes and jumps towards him, slamming Ego on a nearby wall.

This causes Ego to lose his concentration meaning the tentacles that kept the Astrid and the Guardians captive loosened their grip. Astrid could finally see the cavern again, as she pops her head out she gasp loudly taking in a big deep breath. She removes herself from the ground and stands on both two feet with black electricity pouring out from her fingertips.

She stands in the middle of the battle, waiting for Rocket's return. She tried to dodge every debris that came flying towards her but she knew she wouldn't be able to last long. "Rocket, where are you!" She calls out but she soon sees him flying towards her.

"An aero rig. Here. Fly outta here before we blow." He says handing her the needed items. Yondu soon arrives standing beside the three, "We're about to blow!" Astrid tells him. "Get to the ship."

"Not without Quill." Rocket insists but Yondu just shakes his head.

"You gotta take care of the twig." He says.

"Not without you!" Astrid yells practically with tears in her eyes.

"I ain't done nothing right my whole damn life, Astrid. Certainly not to you. You need to give me this."

As much as Astrid hated Yondu, he still was the person who raised her. Taught her how to talk, shoot a gun, hunt. He taught her how to survive. Even though he distanced everyone from her, she knew that it just for her own protection. She was just too stubborn to realize it.

Before the three leave, Rocket looks up at Astrid, Groot does the same. Rocket wants to say something but is hesitant too, but Groot on the other hand had something else to say. Groot turns to Yondu and says the three words. "I am Groot"

"What's that?" Yondu says not understanding his language.

"He says welcome to the frickin' Guardians of the Galaxy. Only he didn't use fricking." Rocket explains.

Astrid smiles despite the situation she was in. Was she really apart of the Guardians now? "Goodbye, twig. Astrid." Yondu turns to her, she's hesitant to hug him but continues anyways. She gives him a unexpected hug that surprises both Yondu and Rocket. "Make sure to come back okay?" She asks but he doesn't answer.

Astrid knows what Yondu's doing and only one will come out alive. But she has hope, that maybe the two will come out together.

"Astrid." Rocket calls. She pulls away and wipes away her tears, placing a hand on Yondu's shoulder she smiles at him one last time before flying off with Rocket.

Astrid turns to Rocket and Groot to tell them something, "You need to teach me more of Groot's language."

It's not long until Rocket, Groot, and Astrid arrive to the ship. There they meet Nebula and Gamora who are caring for the still unconscious Mantis. "Where's Peter?" was all Gamora asked when they arrived.

Astrid nor Rocket answered which worried Gamora. "Astrid, Rocket! Where is he?!" Gamora yells, Astrid puts her head down while Rocket looks down at his timer which only had a minute left on the clock.

"Rocket, Astrid, guys look at me. Where is he?!"

Astrid filled with tears, ones she couldn't hold back. She just let them flow down her cheeks. She shakes her head as an answer to Gamora's question. Groot just points outside. "I'm not leaving without him." Gamora says before trying to exit the ship. But Rocket hits her with the back of his gun to knock her out, "I'm sorry. I can only afford to lose one friend today. Kraglin, go!"

Astrid pulls on Rocket's arm trying to grab his attention. "Let me go, Rocket! I can save both of them!" She cries but Rocket knew there was no way he was going to let another one of his friends die. He might already lose Yondu or Peter, he doesn't want to lose Astrid now.

Rocket shakes his head and her hand off. "I can't, Astrid." She falls to her knees and cries into the palm of her hands. Rocket puts Groot down into the floor and all Groot does and is walk over to the crying Astrid. He just hugs her trying to comfort her.

Groot was the only comfort she found right now. Because any second from now, she's lost her family.
