Girl Mechanic by JellOfAllTrades
Chapter 6"Suzie! You okay?" Suzie's classmate asked after their last class for the day ended.
"I'm fine."
Her classmate nodded and left. Ronnie didn't show up for their afternoon classes due to club activities and Suzie barely made it alone after what happened during lunch. She silently walked to the parking lot when she heard someone call out her name in front of her department building.
"Suzie!"
She turned around to see who it was and found Levi panting to catch up with her.
"Levi, what are you doing here?"
"Just wanted to see if you're okay." Levi said after drawing a deep breath.
"I'm fine, Levi. Thanks." Suzie smiled.
Levi's been a great friend to Suzie ever since they first met. She helped Suzie by fixing her car, she made her laugh, protected her from her ex-boyfriend and is now being overly concerned, considering that they've only known each other for less than a week.
"Okay, you sure you can handle it?"
"Yeah, thanks again, Levi."
Levi nodded and gestured Suzie to get in the car but Suzie couldn't watch Levi stay there on the side of the parking.
"Where's your car?"
"At home, I'm not finished with it yet."
"So, how are you getting home?"
"I'm commuting today." Levi flashed her toothy grin. "It's Wednesday and I can't use my motorbike."
"Motorbike?"
"Yeah, that's how I get to school. Except on Wednesdays. My mom made me promise to take at least one day off using it." Levi shrugged. "She fears for my safety using it."
"Well, it is quite dangerous." Suzie said. "You want a ride?"
"Uhm, no thanks. I'll take the bus." Levi shook her head no.
Suzie felt that she wanted to spend more time with her and before Levi could turn her back away, she called her.
"Levi! Do you want to hang out at my place?"
Levi looked at her, surprised. "Your place?"
"Yeah," Suzie straightened up, "I kinda want some company after what happened earlier."
Levi beamed, "sure, why not?"
"Get in!"
Suzie didn't feel the twenty minute drive because time seems to pass by whenever she's with Levi. Levi would strike her with funny and sometimes corny jokes and then notice the pedestrians at every stoplight. By the time they reached Suzie's house, she has completely forgotten the Dylan incident.
"Ate Suzie, ate Suzie! Oh!" Katie came out of the house as Suzie and Levi are coming up.
"Hello, Katie. This is Levi." Suzie introduced to her little sister. "Levi, this is Katie."
"Hi, Katie." Levi held out a hand for the little girl who's eyeing her warily.
"Hello," Katie smiled with one less front tooth and shook Levi's hand.
"We'll be just upstairs," Suzie said to her sister.
They entered the house and Katie ran to the kitchen.
"Mom, I'm home!" Suzie called out. "I have a friend with me, we'll be upstairs in my room."
Suzie's mom peeked out from the kitchen and smiled at them.
