Rose woke up identical to the past day, except this time she was wearing the nightgown and had various bruises because of the corset and what happened the day before. Besides, that she was excited to start classes, she loved learning and absorbed information like a sponge. Getting out, of bed and into the shower, she decided that this was going to be a good day, like the one before, but without the whole getting thrown thing. She was absolutely certain that nothing could ruin her day, she was just in too good of a mood. Once she was dressed she heard a knock on her door.

"Come in!" called Rose.

" It's me! I was just going to take you to breakfast before we start class," said Neil.

Rose smiled, Neil never left her mind since yesterday (once again, not just because his father attacked her) there was just something about him.

"I'd love too!" replied Rose enthusiastically.

She walked over to him, and they walked together to the cafeteria. When they got there, they sat at the same table as the previous night. All the boys she met yesterday were there along with a few others.

"Good morning, Sleeping beauty! You're looking lovelier than ever, " smirked Charlie, who was currently staring anywhere but her face.

Rose shook her head in disapproval, " My eyes are up here,  you arrogant fool!"

"Wha ha ho! All of these flavors and you choose to be salty!" stated Charlie in disbelief.

Rose just looked the other direction towards Neil and asked him what classes he was taking.

" You just got rejected!" laughed Meeks.

" That was just cold." sighed Charlie.

Neil, who overheard all of there comments yelled over, " She's not into you, get over it!"

Rose than burst into laughter, and so did everyone else.

She then looked over to Todd, " How did you sleep?" she asked in a rather innocent sounding voice.

Todds faced grew a shade of red. He quietly responded, "Very well, thank you."

Rose gave him a reassuring smile. They continued on joking and becoming fast friends before they knew it, it was time for first period. Rose had Trig, math was not her favorite so she was glad to get it over first. It seemed to drag on. But, Neil made it more tolerable by always trying to mouth things to her or make faces in her direction. Next, was science. Rose never minded science because it seemed more applicable than stuff like Algebra.

" 3 lab experiments from the project book and report on them every 5 weeks, first 20 questions at the end of chapter 1 are due tomorrow." grinned the science teacher.

Rose thought that was a little much, but went with it. She knew this was a tougher school, and she had friends which could help her if she needed. After that came Latin. Rose did not know any Latin, at her old school she studied French. It was very repetitive and the teacher seemed off. He asked her to stay after class, as soon as she walked in the room. She looked at Todd with a worried expression on her face.

"Don't worry, it's probably nothing" he whispered in her ear before sitting down.

At the end of class, Rose waited behind. Todd waited outside of the classroom.

" Miss. Buffay, in my class you might have to do something else to pass this class."  announced the man before her.

"What would you like me to do, sir," she asked in a small voice.

He had an evil look in his eye, he replied but stroking her face and then said, " You are the only woman in miles of this place, would you mind giving me some... service." It seemed like more of a threat.

She started shaking and just nodded, and then ran as fast as she could to Todd. When she saw him she grabbed his arm and ran to Neil and the rest of the boys.

"What happened?" he asked, along with Neil who saw them in such a hurry.

"I'll tell you later." replied an out-of-breath Rose.

English was Rose's favorite subject and was ready to focus on that! But the teacher was nowhere in sight. She looked around the room, taking in the view, and trying to get last period out of her mind. She was startled by whistling which came from the new teacher introduced at the Ceremony. He then walked out of the classroom, only to poke his head back in to ask if they were coming.

The class followed him out to the display case, there the man stopped and said, "O' Captain, my Captain. Who knows where that comes from?"

Rose knew the answer but, was still shaken up by her last encounter with a teacher to raise her hand. She watched as another boy responded to the question. She thought of how easy it must be for them, they didn't have to worry about getting taken advantage of or looked down upon. They could just be themselves and be accepted. How Rose longed for that, a time where there could be equality between the genders.  Deep down she knew this wouldn't be possible because even if they had equal rights, it is just generally harder being a woman. Giving birth, periods, and even using the bathroom where just some examples.

" In this class, you may call me Mr. Keating, or if you are more daring, O' Captain my Captain," said Mr. Keating.

Pitts, a boy Rose was introduced to at Breakfast, read a poem out loud. It talked about living life to it's fullest and such. Mr. Keating went on to explain that the Latin term for this idea was Cariem Diem, which meant to seize the day. Rose got the message, but this was a hard thing to accomplish considering they were all trapped in a boarding school.

" Why does the author use these lines? Because we are foods for worms, lady, and lads," exclaimed Mr. Keating. " Lean in you can hear them whisper it to you" he added.

Everybody shifted closer to the case, as Mr. Keating stood in the back repeating in a creepy voice, "Cariem Diem."

" That was weird!" said Knox in disbelief they left the class.

"But, different" replied Neil.

Cameron shook his head, "Spooky if you ask me!"

Rose sighed, this was going to be a long year!
