"I swear I can dance."

"Yeah, right."

It was after school, and the four Phantom Thieves (Morgana included) had agreed to meet up at the school's rooftop. If only their leader and the cat could show up sooner, then this conversation would never have happened in the first place.

"I'm serious!" Ryuji protested, leaning forwards on the plastic chair with his hands clasped together between his legs.

"Prove it," Ann challenged as she crossed her arms, a cheeky grin on her face. "Bust some moves and I'll be the judge of your nonexistent dancing skills."

"Hey!" the boy snapped, before his embarrassment got the better of him and he stared at the concrete floor, face flushed. "That's -. . . it's embarrassing. . . "

"What, backing out now? If that was your excuse to not prove yourself, I'm not buying it for a second," Ann huffed and stood her ground. "You're all talk, no action."

That statement seemed to have changed his mind, because before Ann could brush it off and complain about their teammates' absence, he shot up from his chair with a determined expression. "Fine. Stand up."

"Huh!?" The sudden request caught her off guard, shock displayed on her features. "W-why?"

"To dance, duh," Ryuji said nonchalantly, but his body language was anything but nonchalant.

"But I- I thought -!"

"You never asked what type of dance, you just jumped to conclusion." Ryuji held out a hand, and it seemed to slightly shake if not her mind was playing tricks on her. "Come on, it's a one-time offer."

Ann hesitated before she took his hand, getting off the table she previously sat on. "Okay. . . but I have no idea how to dance whatever this is, just a heads up."

"That's cool, the guy's leadin' anyway." And Ann swore she saw him wink while saying that, making her blush a crimson color. "Alright, if you put your hand here. . ."

After a brief tutorial, Ann was surprised how smooth they moved over the concrete floor. Or well, she was still either stiff as a stick or flabby like spaghetti, but Ryuji wasn't lying when he said he could dance.

"Woah, who taught you to dance like this?" Ann asked when he spun her, making sure she wouldn't fall.

"My mom, actually," Ryuji answered and pulled her back. "She's crazy about pair dances."

"I can't believe that you've never told anyone!" she exclaimed, her back flush against his torso. "I had no clue!"

"Well, uh, it's embarrassing. And weird. And stupid -"

"It's not! Waltz is a classic and graceful dance!" Ann retorted. A short silence fell before she added, "it is waltz, right?"

He chuckled as they both faced each other, gazing into each other's eyes. "Something like that."

The sound of a whining door made them let go of each other and look up, eyes wide. It was Ren. "Hey guys -, uh, ummm..."

"Ren! It's not-!"
