It was 12 am, everyone lay soundly asleep and everything was peaceful and quiet. Almost.
"I wanna watch Mad Max!"
"Already seen it."
Jay groaned and threw himself back on the sofa. "Aww come on! It's still good!"
Cole shook his head. "Something else."
"Kill Bill?"
"Nah."
"Ooh, I know!" Jay sat up again and leaned towards his metal blue laptop. "There's a new Avengers movie!"
"Really? What's it called?" Cole asked with interest.
"Avengers: Infinity War. Wanna watch?" Jay turned to him with hopeful eyes.
"Yeah, press it."
As he turned on the movie, he inserted their headphones (which were linked together with an extra cable for situations like these) to the laptop. He leaned back and scooted closer to Cole, who had all the snacks.
Movie nights had become some sort of habit to them, Jay couldn't remember when it even started. Maybe it was when everyone else fell asleep but them in front of the tv, or was it when Jay had a nightmare about his parents being kidnapped? Either way, every time they got the time, they would bring snacks and cuddle up on the sofa and watch something on Jay's laptop. They didn't want to disturb anybody else, which was why they wore headphones. It messed up their sleeping patterns, yes, but so far it hadn't been any more consequences than that.
Cole had his hand on Jay's shoulder as they both watched the movie. Jay often commented on every scene, but he had grown used to it and was no longer bothered. It was actually kinda fun to see if his speculations would come true or not. Other than that, he would rudely tune his chatter out in order to focus on the movie and eating all the chocolate. Or well, he tried to. Jay whispered pretty loudly to be honest, it was a wonder the others stayed asleep.
"Look! I told you!"
Cole only chuckled in response. "Yeah, yeah."
When the credits started rolling, Jay had fallen asleep on Cole's shoulder. He suspected it happened half an hour ago, since he slowly but surely quieted down until nothing was heard from him but soft snores.
And look, they were out of chocolate-dipped breadsticks again.
Cole sighed, removing the big bowl with nothing more than corn seeds at the bottom. He brushed off the crumbs on his lap and slowly got up, careful to not wake up the other.
If only the blue ninja didn't sleep on top bunk, then Cole could've carried him to bed instead of leaving him sleeping on the sofa. That would be kinda cute, actually.
He shook his head as he put the blanket over Jay's body, who've now taken up all space on the sofa. He turned off the computer and put the plastic bowl in the kitchen sink.
"Goodnight, Jay," he whispered when he passed the living room again, his hand slightly brushing Jay's right arm.
With that, he went to bed, leaving the lightning ninja on the sofa that would probably give him back pain in the morning.
