1. Chen's Kitchen

It had been a long work day at Master Chen's Noodle House, and Skylor had yet to hire new employees since she had to fire all the cult members. All in all, Skylor was exhausted.

At the sound of someone entering the shop, she left the kitchen to greet them. A smile, the warmest and most genuine of the whole day, spread on her face when she realized who the customer was.

"Hi babe."

Kai pulled her in for a quick kiss before letting her go, hands still intertwined.

"City patrol?" Skylor asked and led him behind the counter. Every booth was full, and the conveyor belt wasn't going to fill itself.

Kai pouted when she let him go in order to continue preparing food, but didn't go after her. Instead, he leaned against the door frame and watched her work. "Yup, but I'm taking a break"

"Slacking off, are you?" Skylor teased, smirking as she cut the salmon.

"Only to see you," he smirked back, arms crossed.

Her body froze, mouth open as if to say something. When nothing came, she shut her mouth and a light blush spread on her cheeks.

Kai chuckled before approaching the redhead, eyeing her work. "Need help?"

"Wash your hands," she ordered, hands back in motion. When Skylor finished slicing up the salmon, she handed him a sack of carrots. "Wash these too."

Kai obeyed her orders, doing as told. She stood beside him with a peeler, so close that their arms brushed. A light pink appeared on both of them.

"So, um, Sky..." Kai trailed off, making sure the water stopped running. Skylor faced him and saw how his cheek reddened and pupils dilated. "Do you think--?"

A buzz interrupted him from the intercom, which he had to answer. He frowned when he put it on speaker.

"Kai, we're having trouble with a thief at Hiroshi's labyrinth," Jay's high-pitched voice rung out from the intercom.

"Why do you need my help to take care of some petty thief?" Kai replied harshly.

"I wouldn't have called you if it was some petty thief." The way Jay said it hinted at his annoyance and urgency.

The brunet groaned. "Fine, give me ten minutes."

A shout was heard from the other side.

"Five."

"Whatever."

Kai sighed after he had ended the call. He turned towards Skylor and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I gotta go, duty calls." A second of hesitation before he continued, cheeks dusted pink once again. "Will I see you tonight?"

Skylor smiled serenely at him. "Pick me up at eight." This heightened the red ninja's mood as Skylor pecked his cheek. "Alright. Go."

Kai nodded as Skylor shooed him out from the kitchen, snickering. "Go ninja, go!"
