Chapter 5: Run

I quietly make my to the staircase, because I was on the second floor, I see Mr. Cho sitting at the table eating breakfast, bacon, eggs, and milk. Grrrrr, my stomach grumbles and I can feel my face getting red, curse you hunger!! I guess Mr. Cho could hear it because he turned around and saw me hiding at the top of the stairs, "If I was going to turn you in, I would have done it yesterday when you were still asleep. Now come down and let me get you something to eat," he says as he gets up to go to the kitchen,"I wasn't sure you were even going to wake up today. You realize you've been asleep for the last two days." 'Oh crap, did using all that magic really make me that tired? It must have, or it could have also been the smoke, I'm to tired for this.'

I try to walk down the stairs but trip on the first step, 'ok, I should probably just teleport.' I do that and just barely get to the bottom of the stairs, Mr. Cho comes back in looking shocked,"How did you even do that? There's a nullification barrier covering town, it ends near the border." 'So it isn't just me, that's good, I think.' "Than how did the man in black get out of my house? Who hurt my mom and dad?" Tears threatening to escape as my voice started to crack, "Just sit down and eat dear, it's alright." That's right he's giving me food, he said that he wasn't going to turn me in but I'm still not quite sure, I sit down and dig into the eggs and sausage.

We both sit in silence for about five minutes and I'm half way done eating, "How did you fit all of that fruit in your purse? You're not in trouble, I would have had to throw them away anyway, but it doesn't mean I didn't see it." 'So he was watching me, I knew I was being quite.' I debated in my head weather or not I should tell him, it's like one of those choices in a game that determine what ending you get. "I enchanted it so it would be bottomless, and if I put food in it, the food won't go bad." I decide to tell him the truth, what's the worst that could happen? He kills me or turns me into one of the two sides of my family?

I showed him and took a peach out of my purse, I look up again and Mr. Cho is just staring at me with wide eyes. "I can make you one if you want." He doesn't move, is he in shock? I wave my hand in front of his face to make sure he isn't frozen, his eyes move and he chuckles. "I'll be right back, stay inside the house, I don't know if there are soldiers around, stay away from the windows." He walks out the front door, he's probably going to the barn to get some of the sacks he and his sons use the bring into town.

After a few minutes there is some talking outside and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, my first thought was that he was turning me in. I try to use invisibility magic, my fingers become transparent and quickly go back to normal, that barrier is messing with everybody right now. But wouldn't that mean that the soldiers couldn't use magic to? The front door opens and I hide under the table, the tablecloth almost reaches the floor and is the worst hiding spot I could be stuck in! The footsteps get closer, I peak underneath the cloth and there were five sets of shoes, only one of which belonged to Mr. Cho.

"There is no one here, my apprentices live in a separate house, and they're in town selling produce, I'm the only one that lives here." Two large boots are in front of me, "Then why are there two plates?" A large booming voice rang out, I almost jumped when I heard it, "I-I had a visitor earlier, I was about to do the dishes when I thought I saw something outside." I tried to breathe as quietly as possible, but I'm afraid they will hear me. I'm three and a half feet tall, I'm not heavy at all, I can't even use my powers, and I wouldn't be able to out run them, all they would have to do is pick me up. So my only option is to hope that Mr. Cho can get them away from the house long enough for me to get past the border.

"Was this visitor Annabella Snow?" A new voice behind me, how did he even get there?! I felt like I was going to throw up, the fear was overwhelming when I thought 'why are they looking for my mother? She died over 4 and a half years ago, and missing for 5, why are they still looking for her? My father is already remarried with a boy, girl, and one on the way, he doesn't need me. My mothers father maybe? But his son is taking over for him and he's getting married, they don't need me, do they want to get rid of me? Would it be easier to get rid of me, I was doing just fine before!
