Chapter 11: Dinner

Elodie's Point of View

We walked into the dining room and Michal pulled out the seat next to Theo and another little girl, she looks like she's a year older than me, shouldn't she be at the academy then? Michal sat at the head of the table on my left, and at the other end of the table was the Yacan king, on the little girls left was the twins and in front of them was their parents. The adults sat on one side of the table while the kids sat on the other, the other man with red eyes named Samuel sat in front of me. The little girl on my left has long silky black hair and glowing green eyes, I'm guessing that she is his daughter. Michal clears his throat, "Shall we start dinner now?" And that is when I noticed the plate of food in front of me, I have no idea what the heck this is, Theo sees me confused and whispers, "it's chicken and potatoes."

I look back at the plate in front of me and I can tell that it most definitely does NOT look like chicken or potatoes. But because I haven't had anything to eat since breakfast I take the fork and put a small pice of the chicken in my mouth, and it actually wasn't that bad! I guess this is just something that people here do, which is make their food look pretty, and it has salt! We didn't have salt at home, did they make potatoes for me because that's what my parents grew? Na I'm probably overthinking this, I look around me and everyone is almost done with their food. I hurry up and finish mine and I can hear. Some mumbling for the little girl next to me.

I swear I heard her say little pig and thought that she was talking to me, but I look farther down the table and the twins are making a mess. After everyone puts their silverware down, the maids come by and pick up the dirty dishes and bring us what I think is dessert. Theo leans over again and whispers, "it's chocolate, sweet, you'll like it." Again I take his word for it and take a bite after he does, and it's dark chocolate!!! My eyes light up because this is the first time I have had chocolate in 4 and a half years, the man in front of me chuckles. And we all continue to eat this delicious masterpiece, the maids take away our dishes again and Michal says, "Octavia, can you take Theo to his room please?"

Octavia gets up and takes a reluctant Theo to his room, "Alright, remember what we agreed on?" He says looking at me and I nod my head. "Ok so this is going to be a bit akwarde, alright Elodie, so the little girl next to you is Lainey, and her father Samuel is in front of you." I look to my left and the little girl looks confused, " The woman next to him is Lilly, next to her is her husband Leon, and in front of them are their twins Zoe and Zane." I look at Lilly and she looks at me sadly, "And the old man at the end of the table is Eric Snow." After Michal said old man, Eric got this really angry look on his face, it was pretty funny.

"And to answer your question from earlier, yes he is your grandfather, and the man in front of you is well," he looks to Leon and he nods to him like he's telling him to go ahead, "He is your father, and Lacey who is next to you is your sister." "HALF sister." Lacey chimed in, and she looks like she's fuming. I guess she doesn't like me much, "And Leon and Lilly are your aunt and uncle, and Zoe and Zane are your cousins, got it?" Michal finishes, "..ok.." is my measly answer, "I'm still staying here until I go to school right?" I know the answer but I just wanted to make sure that it didn't change, the old man gets up to say something but Michal quickly answered, "Yes, you will be staying here." He shoots a glare at the old man as he sits back down.

Leon and Lilly each pick up one of their twins and leaves as it was late and they were falling asleep at the table, beside I doubt that they will even remember this. "Snow would you leave us please?" Samuel says, and Snow, I think that's what I will call him now, he and Michal leave and it is just he, Lacey and I. Lacey gets up and yells, "I don't want a sister! I never asked for one!" Well she doesn't like me, "Lacey Bell, sit down right now." He is not happy with her at all, I wonder if she was named after my mother, she obeyed but she was not happy about it, "So.... You're my father?" He looks at me and nods his head, but I know that he's lying, that Zola fairy made it so that Leon was my father.

I turn to Lacey and ask, "Do I call you sister or—" she cuts me off and says, "You are not my sister so you will call me Lacey." "ok Lacey..." I look up at my new 'father', even though I know for a fact that he is not, "Do I call you Samuel, or father, or papa?" I say like a long dragged out question, his eyes lit up after I said papa, I think that is what I'm going to call him. "Anyone of those is good." He says to me smiling, by now Lacey has left, I don't think she likes sharing very much... maybe this is a good time to ask, "How old is Lacey?" "She is almost 6, but she might be going to school with you and Theo next year." That's odd, normally there's no acceptations when attending the academy, even for royalty.

"Well we should also be heading to bed." He gets up and pulls my chair out and holds my hand, he seems like a good dad. After a going through maze like hallways we finally reached a room. This one was different from the one I was in before, Samuel sees me looking confused and says, "The other room was someone else's room, this one is just for you." He says with a big smile and I see my name in big pretty letters, he opens the door and it's so nice!! There was some bookshelves and toys, and two doors that likely lead to the bathroom and closet. "Goodnight Elodie, sweet dreams." I decided to make him happy and say, "Goodnight papa, sleep tight." He has this adorable grin on his face as he left.

After he closes the door I see that a clean nightgown was laid on the bed, so I go ahead and get dressed and crawl into bed. I was about to close my eyes when I heard this violent coughing nearby, I get out of bed and into the hallway. It's coming from a few doors down and the name of it was Lacey, safe to say that it was her room. I open it just a crack to make sure she isn't going to yell at me, I use my enhanced vision and it's like night vision! I didn't know I could do this, cool! I look over to her and see that she was still asleep, I walk over to her as quietly as possible and see that there's some blood on her pillow and a memory come back to me.

Flashback

I loaded the boys in the car first and went back inside to get the girls as Ella buckled them in. The girls were coughing up so much blood, and I was no acceptation, as I was trying to get back up the stairs I started again. After about five or so minutes I finally stopped and my hands were covered in blood and spit. Ella carried Lucy as I held Mia's hand, we couldn't wait any longer, tonight or tomorrow morning I was going to lose my baby sisters and I was going to follow them.

Flashback Ends

I blinked a few times and told myself 'I am not Katie anymore, I am Elodie' a few times until I calmed down. I looked back to Lacey and thought that this is probably why she's so angry, papa probably doesn't spend much time with her. I climb to the edge of her bed and hover my hands above her and my hands and her entire body has this soft white glow. This means that her entire body is sick, not just her lungs, I won't heal her right now, I kinda want her to know that it was me. It's not petty! I just want her to like me because she might be the new villainess, and I have learned that it's smart to be on the bad guys good side. I crawl out of her bed and go back to my room and go to bed, my life has changed for the fifth time now. And I have a feeling that it's about to get really crazy.
