Chapter 2

Alec's P.O.V.

As Clary and my sister Isabelle walked to her room to get ready to go to the Pandemonium, I stayed in the front hall with my parabatai Jace. "Well she's cute," he said and smirked. "I'm going to try and make a move on her tonight."

"She is not another one of your little toys, Jace!" I snapped. "She deserves someone that cares about her." I don't know why I said that, because I just met her. There was just something about her that was special.

"Like you, I suppose?" He asked. "I bet that I can make her fall in love with me before she can fall in love with you. Not that you have any chance against me and my superior good looks."

"Looks don't always matter you know," I said. "It's how a person is on the inside. I bet she will love me way before she even likes you. Plus, by the way you were acting around her, like you winking and being your egotistical self, she probably thinks you are a self-absorbed ass-hole."

"Look, I can get any girl I want into my bed with my charms. I'm a good-looking dude. The only person who has ever called you handsome is Magnus," Jace replied.

"I have to go," I said, my voice cracking and tears in my eyes. Magnus and I broke up a few months ago. We decided it just wasn't working out.

"Wait! I'm so sorry Alec, I didn't mean to bring that up!" Jace shouted at me as I ran to my room. I decided to ignore him and locked my door. I will still go to the Pandemonium, but only since Clary is coming. I hope the self-absorbed ass-hole, who I call my parabatai won't make a move tonight.

Clary's P.O.V

"There is no way in hell I'm wearing this!" I exclaimed to Izzy. I was wearing a short black sexy dress that ended mid-thigh. It showed a lot of cleavage.

"Please wear it! It's looks so good on you. Plus you will have Alec and Jace fawning over you the whole time!" Izzy begged.

"Fine," I said, tired of her begging me to wear it.

She squealed, "Yassssss! Then I am totally doing your makeup. I'm really good at it and I know a look that with be amazing for you!"

"I guess," I replied, knowing it was no use arguing with her. She made me sit down on a chair right in front of a mirror on her dresser. She opened a drawer and pulled out a whole box of makeup brushes. She also took out some blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara. She then proceeded to put them on my face.

When she was done, she said,"You look so gorgeous!" I looked in the mirror and saw that she put dark red lipstick and some smokey black eyeshadow on. I actually did look really good.

"Thanks Izzy! You did a fantastic job!" I said to her. "I'll wait on your bed for you to get ready."

After about half an hour she was done. We both walked back to the front hall to meet with Alec and Jace. Max couldn't come because he was too young. I looked around and couldn't see Alec, but Jace was waiting for us. He was wearing a leather jacket, black pants, and a tight black shirt that showed off his muscles- oh my gosh! What am I thinking! "Hey cutie," he said to me and I blushed.

"Where's Alec?" Izzy questioned Jace. "Don't tell me you brought up Magnus again! You know how much that hurts him. Ever since they broke up he has been a wreck and he seemed genuinely excited to go to the Pandemonium tonight! C'mon Clary we are going to drag his heartbroken ass down here to come with us, whatever it takes."

We walked to Alec's room and Izzy knocked on his door. "Alec! Please come out here! Jace is really sorry on what he said."

"Fine," He said. "But only because Clary is coming. She seems very nice."

"Thanks Alec!" I replied. "You seem very nice too."

"I uhhhh... didn't know you were out there but thanks." He said, sounding a little embarrassed. "I'll meet you guys downstairs. I still have to get dressed. It will take only a few minutes, unlike Isabelle."

We walked downstairs, and Alec, true to his word, came down a few minutes later wearing a grey shirt and black jeans. "Let's go!" He said, already walking out the door.
