She's Mine

Chapter 8

Jace's P.O.V

I don't know if I should tell Clary what happened yesterday. I know she would be embarrassed and try to deny it. I decided that I shouldn't tell her until she says it to me sober. I walked to her room to see if she felt ok after going to the Pandemonium.

I heard voices inside her room. It sounded like Alec. What the fuck is he doing in there?!

Clary's P.O.V

I woke up from the sound of someone knocking at my door. Oh shit! What if it was Jace? "Hold on!" I yelled. I had to make myself presentable. I quickly brushed my hair and popped a mint in my mouth. I didn't want to have morning breath. I opened the door. "Hey Alec!" I said, trying not to sound too disappointed. "What are you doing here?"

"Well I wanted to give you this." He handed me a red rose. "This rose is no match to your great beauty. Will you go on another date with me?"

I thought about it for a second. I should give him another chance, because after all, the first date was a disaster. "That sounds cool. Where are we going to go?"

"Well.... I was thinking of going to have a picnic. Dress casual and I'll see you in ten minutes at the park." He walked out the door.

I'm glad I didn't have to ask Isabelle for a dress because she would probably give me a skimpy one. I looked through my closet to see what I had and saw a nice spring dress with a floral pattern. I hid two seraph blades and my stele in my brown boots, because you can never be too careful.

I skipped to the park and saw Alec there with a big picnic basket. He was wearing a sky blue t-shirt and light brown shorts. "Hey Clary!"

"Hey Alec!" I responded. "I'm starving!  What did you pack to eat?"

"I packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They're a classic for picnics. Whenever I go on one with Izzy or Jace, we always eat these. Here, try one." He handed me the sandwich.

I took a bite out of it. "It is so delicious! This is the best sandwich I ever had!" I wasn't exaggerating. It was sooooo good!

"I'm glad you like it." Alec responded.

In a blink of an eye,  I saw a black demon grab Alec. More demons suddenly came out from nowhere. I took out my seraph blades and attacked the greater demons. Alec got out of its grasp and pulled out his bow and arrow. Where did that come from? After a few minutes, we finally defeated it. Alec had a large scratch on his neck from where the demon grabbed him. I took out my stele and drew an iratze on him. "Are you ok?" I asked.

"Yep. Thanks for asking. Are you ok? That demon was pretty tough."

"I'm good, but we better head home and tell the others what happened here. There could be many more demons here in the city too. I hope that none of them attack the Institute."

~Arriving at the Institute~

As soon as I got there is saw Izzy and hugged her. "I'm so glad you are ok!  Alec and I got attacked by a group of greater demons on our date."

Jace came in the room. "What did I miss?" I repeated what I told Izzy and saw him clench his fists when I mentioned we were on a date. Why did he do that? Was he jealous? No, he can't be. Why would he like a plain girl like me?

I walked to my room and saw something sitting on my bed. It looked like a note. I picked it up and it said:

My dearest Clarissa,
        It has been quite a while since I first saw you. I sent my demons to get you, but they failed. You might not remember me that well, but I remember you. It felt like yesterday when I you as a baby in my arms. When the Clave locked me up, I swore I would break out and find you and your mother again, and we would be a perfect family. Now my dreams will become a reality. I'm coming for you Clarissa, and your mother.
