Kaneki stared in shock at the sight before him; a giant mansion behind a large set of gates. Tsukiyama had said he'd take him home but he didn't know he meant HIS home.

It was beautiful, gardens everywhere, trees full of life, hedges sculpted into various shapes and animals, and a large fountain. And it all belonged to the Tsukiyama family.

When the driver opened the door for them he stepped out and suddenly felt very small in place so large. He was an anomaly, a piece that didn't fit or just merely didn't belong. He felt he should leave but was instantly met with a hand on his shoulder.

"Come now my friend, we can have a chat in the library. I'll have Kanae make us some of his delicious coffee.", he said as he began walking towards the front door, basically pulling Kaneki with him."

"Kanae?"

"Oh silly me, he's one of the servants that lives here. My father has his own people so Kanae, Matsumae by the limousine, and a select few others all work for me personally."

"Wow, you guys must be really well off."

"That's an understatement my friend. Money has never been an issue for my family and I." As they made their way inside, they were greeted by a young man with hair and eyes that matched Tsukiyama's own.

"Good evening Master Shuu, it pleases me to see you've returned safe and sound. And I see you've brought a guest with you, hopefully he's as charming as Ms. Chie."

Kaneki stared at the young man before him with intrigue. Tsukiyama we had said that Kanae was male but his figure and stance was that of a female attempting to be manly. Not to mention that non masculine voice that was dipped in a heavy German accent. "My name's Kaneki, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Seems he's more charming than Chie,  my name is Kanae Von Rosewald. Servant to the Tsukiyama family and their guests, it is an honor to meet another one of Master Shuu's friends."

With the introductions out of the way, Tsukiyama told Kanae to go prepare some coffee for the two of them and quickly ushered Kaneki into the library.

Kanae bowed at the request and waiting until his master was out of sight to stand straight up again. His small smile was replaced with a scowl as he grit his teeth. "Schwein..."

Inside the library there were multiple tall shelves filled to the brim with literature and out of the two of them, Kaneki felt the most at home.

"You're just like her, no wonder why she chose you."

Kaneki turned to see Tsukiyama already sitting down, twisting a lock of his hair. "Pardon?"

"Ms.Kamishiro I mean, you both have a great love for books. I saw it in your eyes the moment we came in here. She was the same way, always had her face buried in the pages of a good book. Well when she wasn't stuffing her face full of guts."

Kaneki cringed at those words, he'd almost forgotten that these people weren't human but their natural enemies. "It's so weird...I barely know her and she's responsible for my life being altered in the most dramatic of ways. One day you're a human going out on a date with the girl of your dreams and then the next you're having a conversation with a ghoul in his luxurious mansion library."

Tsukiyama chuckled, "Yes life tends to be full of surprises. Now tell me, how do you feel? Does your body feel different from when it was fully human?"

"In a strange way yes, I feel so much more durable but at the same time more agile. Like my reflexes and senses are at their peak, if that makes any sense to you."

"Oh it does indeed. I've been this way since birth and I can honestly tell you that there's no other feeling like it. She was a Rinkaku type right?"

"Rinkaku?"

"You don't know the different types of ghoul? Well it's definitely confirmed now that you were once human. Listen, ghouls are broken up into four categories. Ukaku. Koukaku. Rinkaku. And, Bikaku. You can tell the different types by which kagune they have with Ukaku types having wing like ones. Koukaku types have blade and shield like ones that extend from the shoulder blade. Rinkaku and Bikaku both are like tails with the former being just a tad bit higher up on the back than the latter. I believe Rize was a Rinkaku type."

"Oh I didn't know there were different types of ghoul."

"What, we're all just the same to you? Nothing but monsters that gobble up poor humans and destroy families right?"

"No no!! I didn't mean it like that, I just-"

Tsukiyama let out a chuckle again, "Relax Kaneki, it twas merely a joke. Frankly I don't mind and can't blame you for your feelings. Had I been born human, I would've thought the same way as you and feared the unknown."

"It's just so weird...I never thought of ghouls as anything but carnivorous beasts that needed to just disappear but then I fell for one and found out that another one is like a mentor to my best friend Hide."

It was funny, ever since the operation ended and when he was allowed to go home Hide had been trying to come and see him but he'd kept turning him down. Now all he wanted to do was see the big dope and get him away from...Nishiki!

"Tsukiyama you don't think he'll hurt my friend to get back at me do you?!"

"Hmm...there's a possibility with that one. Nishiki never likes to lose to anyone much less lose his prize so yes he might. Can't you warn said friend to stay away from him?"

"No, Hide will ask questions and he's perceptive that he'll know that I'm lying. He always knows."

"Pretty smart. For a human anyway."

"This is serious, he could wipe my best friend off the face of the planet and no one would be none the wiser. Tsukiyama, I know you've already done a lot for me but will you help me save him?"

Tsukiyama started twirling one of his locks again while he thought about it, stopping only before standing up. "I'd be delighted to on one condition. You have to stay here."

"...huh?"
