The twins attacked in full sync with one another, jumping around with the ease of  experienced ghouls, while Kaneki just blocked and dodged their attacks.

This was crazy, he'd known he wasn't the only one but he hadn't expected that he'd meet the others and so soon. But here he was, battling his 'sisters'.

Nishiki tried to move in and aid him but his path was blocked by Ayato who'd already summoned his wings and fired his spikes at them. This time they were ready though.

Nishiki's tail emerged from his back and swatted away the spikes while moving behind Tsukiyama along with Uta and Yomo, where Tsukiyama used his kagune to form a giant shield.

Shachi made his way towards Nishiki but found his path blocked by Yomo who grabbed his arm and threw him up into the air before following.

"The rest of you help Kaneki, this won't take long."

"Oui."

"Yeah yeah."

"You got it."

Yomo and Shachi made their way up the side of a building before landing on the roof where they faced off.

"Renji."

"Matasaka."

"How's Yoshimura?"

"He's fine, he's been wondering why you joined the tree after escaping Cochlea."

"The one wrapped in bandages told me I could see Rize again. You and I both know how credible she is."

"Hm...his daughter."

"Precisely. She also informed me that that monster is keeping Rize hostage. Where exactly I don't know but, I joined the tree to save my child."

"Understandable, I joined Ken down there to bring down the tree."

"He doesn't seem like much."

"That's what I thought at first too but look at him. Just a few months ago he was a sniveling little twerp but now he's a full blown war machine."

"He's a damaged brat fighting on pure emotion and no resolve. He'll get himself killed."

"That's why he was myself and the others. You'll see Shachi, that boy will become something amazing."

"I'll let you have your fantasy. So, what should we do then? We are on opposite sides this time."

"No sense in causing pointless injury. Let's just watch."

"Hm."

As the fighting progressed Kaneki began to push the twins back, using his full strength to start dealing damage to their kagune.

Ayato was having difficulty fighting Uta, Nishiki, and Tsukiyama since the latter kept blocking his attacks while the other two kept pursuing him. Damn Tatara for assigning him to this shit.

That's when they all noticed that Kanou was gone. They'd been so busy fighting that they hadn't even noticed that the cause of their battles had just up and left.

They returned to their opposite sides and stared one another down, obviously irritated that they had all failed.

"Thank you for fighting with us big brother."

"Papa will be most pleased with the data we've gathered."

"Fuck your dad..."

Ayato smirked and placed his mask on his face as he turned and left with his entourage while Shachi lingered just a bit longer to stare at him before leaving.

Nishiki and Tsukiyama collapsed to their knees out of pure exhaustion while Kaneki approached Yomo.

"I was watching you know. You didn't fight him even once. All you did was talk, why?"

"There's a lot you don't know Ken. Not everything is as it seems. Not everyone is our enemy."

"Aogiri is the enemy. Shachi is in Aogiri. Shachi is the enemy."

"Matasaka Kamishiro is only the enemy so long as Rize Kamishiro is in Kanou's custody. Kanou works with Aogiri. You do the math Ken."

Kaneki looked dumbfounded. Did he just say Rize was in Kanou's custody? But she was dead, killed by a bunch of steel beams crushing her. There was no way she could've survived that. Yomo had obviously let himself be fooled.

"Before you say anything, keep in mind that Yoshimura trusts that man with his life."

Shit. He couldn't doubt it anymore, this was the truth. Anybody who Yoshimura trusted was on the up and up and there was no questioning that. So what did all of this mean? Rize. Aogiri Tree. Shachi. Yoshimura. What the hell was going on?

He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when an ear splitting scream was heard throughout the area.

Kaneki used his kagune to run up the side of a building so he could reach a rooftop to find out where the scream was coming from.

He finally located it and headed in the direction where he found a young girl on the ground sobbing uncontrollably.

He didn't have to wonder why for long because there, a few feet in front of her was the headless corpse of a woman as two Doves approaching her slowly. Not today.

He dropped from his vantage point and landed in front of her before cracking a finger and leveling his gaze at the two Doves.

One looked old and insane while the other...he was the one who Kaneki had let go a few months ago.

"Well well Amon judging from your description, this must be the infamous Eye Patch."

"Yes, that's him Mr.Mado."

"I won't let you two murder this girl."

"HAHAHAHA!!! This is hilarious isn't it Amon?! Ghouls acting like humans and protecting one another!! You remind of the one I just killed in front of her daughter. She was going on and on about letting her precious child live and then I cut. Her. Head. Off."

"Sick bastard."

"Eye Patch, you let me live that day. Why?"

"I told you, I don't believe in pointless death. That goes for ghouls and humans.

"So if I was to move to murder that ghoul child, would you kill me?"

"I'd disarm you like I did last time."

"Enough Amon, I grow tired of this conversation. Your kind kills ours for food and you expect us to show you mercy? Get real!!"

Mado aimed his weapon at Kaneki and prepared to strike but soon found it shattered and destroyed but a giant blade.

Tsukiyama, Yomo, Uta, and Nishiki all in masks, surrounded Kaneki and the girl while they stared the Doves down.

"Damn that wasn't fair."

"Enough. Just let them leave, they can't do anything against us."

"Eye Patch, if you let us go you know we'll keep pursuing you right?"

"I know. And I'll disarm you every time."

Without another word Kaneki scooped up the girl and left with his team, leaving Mado and Amon alone.

"He's a strange one that ghoul."

"He broke your quinque."

"Oh never mind that. My newest one was just completed and I have a feeling I can make use of this woman's corpse as well. This is going to be fun."
