Tsukiyama was beginning to get incredibly annoyed. Not only had Kaneki run off to face that brute Shachi, but he'd left him and Banjou's group to deal with this idiot and his gang of white suit wearing thugs.

As he thought about this, he noticed the Doves entering through the hole in the ceiling with their quinques already drawn. This wasn't good.

"Monsieur Naki, I do believe a truce is in order for the time being."

"First of all it's just Naki and second, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

He groaned inwardly. Because they lived their lives in hiding, most ghouls had grown up without educations, so naturally they didn't know the meaning of certain words or know fundamental skills like reading and writing. Naki was living proof of that.

"I mean we should stop fighting for now and team up to fight the Doves."

"Oh! Alright then you weird voiced bastard, let's do it!!"

He'd enjoy watching Naki die.

As two of the Doves raced past everyone, the remaining males engaged the White Suits and Banjou's group while the lone female stayed behind with a certain spark in her eyes.

She acted like she was defenseless but Tsukiyama knew better. She'd been assigned to a team comprised of mainly male investigators so it was obvious that her skills were something to be commended and feared.

He was right about all of it. Her quinque acted as a whip and coiled around his own kagune, preventing him from bringing it back to him. But this left her open. Or so he thought.

Naki moved in to deliver the finishing blow but was impaled by a blade emerging from the end of the handle of her whip.

Chimera Quinque, it was like the small assortment of ghouls who'd been born with both of their parents' kagune types. Like Hinami.

Tsukiyama used Naki's distraction as a way to land a blow on the female and sent her flying with one kick. Not enough to kill but enough to stun.

Leaving Naki to his own devices, Tsukiyama raced off into the facility to find Kaneki. It was time they made their leave.

Meanwhile, Ayato stared in shock and disbelief at the piles and piles of bodies that had been ripped asunder in the chamber containing Rize and the others.

There was no way in hell that Shachi could've done this so that left only one other person, Kaneki. That damn one eyed bastard.

"Kuro. Nashi. Search for Kanou, we need to leave immediately."

The twins nodded and ran around the room looking for a sign that could lead them to the missing doctor.

When they turned up nothing, the trio exited the room through the hole they came through and came face to face with two Doves, one of which who brought back memories for the twins.

"Rei."

"Here?"

Ayato sneered as his wings emerged from his back, he was in no mood for this bullshit. First half assed Kaneki and now the fucking Doves?! He needed a vacation.

The older investigator barked orders at his partner and ran towards Ayato with his giant cleaver already drawn.

"Alright old man, let's have a party!!"

While Ayato dealt with his opponent, Kurona and Nashiro faced Rei as their kagune emerged.

It'd been years since they'd all seen one another but back then things were much different. For starters, the twins were humans in the CCG's care along with Rei and, they were definitely a lot happier.

But it was all different now, Rei was now Juuzou and the twins were now half ghouls thanks to Kanou and Rize's kakuhou.

Juuzou swung his scythe wildly like they'd predicted he would. He'd always been reckless even in the academy but now it would get him killed.

They hated the fact that they'd have to kill an old friend but this was the path they'd chosen the moment they became ghouls.

Nashiro went high and tried to send her kagune into his head but, he blocked them with his weapon while also allowing Kurona to get close and knock it out of his hands.

"We're sorry Rei."

"Please don't resent us."

They ran towards him ready to deliver the final blow but couldn't help but notice his smile hadn't faded.

"That's funny...I was going to say the same thing to you two."

As they passed him, he'd impaled Kurona's kakugan with a small but deadly knife.

"AHH!!"

"Sister?!"

"I'm all right...it'll heal."

"Will it?"

Both sisters turned their heads in anger and fear as their opponent opened his shirt to reveal the remaining 55/56 bikaku quinque knives.

"I'm not sure you have enough...time."

The twins were in for a hell of a ride and Ayato wasn't doing any better.

While the old man had appeared to be slow and weighted down because of his armor, he in fact was able to counter and deflect every last one of Ayato's attacks and didn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

But there was more to this than the old man knew. Ayato had been unconsciously pulling his punches because of his discovery.

That pattern. That smell. It was his father. The old man was wearing his dad!!

When he'd first realized it, he'd become enraged and fought a bit harder but now he was slowing down. It was like he was a child once more and only wanted his dad to hold him and tell him everything would be fine. But everything wasn't fine.

The old man knocked Ayato on his ass once more and prepared to deliver the final blow.

Ayato staggered to his feet as blood leaked out of his slash wound and battered face, and limped over to the man.

If he was going down, he was going down fighting until his heart stopped.

His fists tapped the armor weakly before he collapsed to his knees. It was over. He knew he'd die and see his mother and father again sooner than he'd thought.

"Damn it...dad."

As he lost consciousness, the old man raised his cleaver to deliver the final blow."

"I'm sorry kid."

As he brought it down, he heard a maniacal cackle from above him.

There standing on the ceiling thanks to his kagune being stabbed into it, was Kaneki just cackling like a mad man.

With his mind out of this world, his kagune had run rampant and transformed into something really creepy.

The tails had taken the appearance of centipede bodies while some ran around his body like some sort of harness. But the worst of it was the fact that it had formed a mask over his face with one eye in the center.

"What the hell is that thing?!"

"One thousand...minus seven...DO YOU KNOW?!?!"

He ripped his kagune out of the ceiling and propelled himself towards the Dove. It was on.
