Three things were constantly repeting in my mind. Lapis was in a car accident. She was taken to the hospital. She is in critical condition. My mom had just told me a few minutes ago, but I was still trying to process everything and tie it all together. I knew she had been on her way over to my house, because she and her mom had a very heated argument prior to her calling me. What I wasn't aware of is the fact that she wouldn't reach her destination. She was going to fast and a car slammed into her passenger side. She was fine then. Up until another car crashed head first into hers, sending her into unconsciousness and causing a panic at the intersection.
Five minutes. Five minutes I had been sitting on the couch, staring blankly as my mom tried to get a response from her daughter. "Peridot, please answer me" no response, only my breathing getting faster and more intense. "Honey, calm down. We can go see her now, or whenever she can have visitors." That last part brought me out of whatever daze I was in. My head immediately shot up. "We.. we can go see her?" I was getting choked up, and on the verge of tears. "Of course, let me grab my purse and text her mom that we're coming to the hospital". As soon as my mom was in the other room, I grabbed my jacket, a flower from the vase, and a polaroid of Lapis and I, which I got from the her. In a matter of seconds, I was outside in the car, waiting on my mom to lock the door and join her. I hated to, but silently cried while my mom wasn't in the car. "Ready?" She said softly. All I could do was nod while looking at the picture of us and hope with all I had, that Lapis would make it out of this.

(Just minutes before the accident)
"WHY CAN'T YOU JUST ACCEPT WHO I AM, AND WHO I LOVE?" I was infuriated at my mother, who had found out about me and Peridot's relationship. "BECAUSE, LAPIS. IN MY HOUSE, I MAKE THE RULES, I DECIDE WHAT YOU CAN AND CAN'T DO. I DON'T AGREE WITH HAVING A DAUGHTER THAT SLEEPS WITH ANOTHER GIRL" my mom snapped back, just as angry. She had found pictures of us kissing and messages proving our forbidden relationship. "Well, maybe if you don't agree with me or my choices, I should just leave." I said with through clenched teeth. My mother didn't succeed in trying to stop me as I ran up to my room, or as I walked out the door to my car. Once I closed the car door, I dialed up Peridot's number, and proceeded to call her. "Lapis?" Peridot answered. "P-peri, I'm co-coming over. We had another f-fight, and I just n-need to see you right now.." I was completely sobbing at this point. I hated to cry, let alone cry infront of people. But my mom had reached my boiling point, and I was more than enough comfortable around Peridot. "Okay, relax. It'll be ok, I'm waiting here for you. Just knock when you get here." That made me feel a little better.

As She began driving, she hadn't even realized how fast she was going until she reached the intersection and heard metal collide with metal. For a few seconds, there was some ringing in her ears, and she could feel a pain in her neck from the impact. She lay her head back on the seat, heart thumping frantically, thankful that nothing worse had happened. Until she sensed a light getting brighter in front of her and turned to see a car about to collide with hers. As if on cue, the cars collided and Lapis was instantly knocked unconscious as her body was shaken between the seat and seatbelt.
Everyone who had witnessed immidiently panicked and rushed to the cars, as others called the police. One witness in particular was Lapis' mom standing outside their house, as they live scarily close to the intersection. She had run faster than anytime in her life before, frantically trying to reach her daughter's car. All she could see outside was torn, misshapen metal and broken glass. When she looked inside, her skin turned pale and her breath hitched. There sat Lapis, unresponsive and bleeding from many places. She had to be dragged away as the EMTs pulled Lapis, and the other passengers, out of their cars and onto stretchers. Soon enough, the stretchers were in the ambulances, and they were on their way to the hospital. A police officer came up to the shaking, crying woman and asked her, "Ma'am, do you need a ride to the hospital?" She responded with a shaky "yes" and proceeded into the cop car. He asked if she needed to call anyone, and so she called Peridot's mother. Once she picked up, she told her what happened and hung up, giving the officer back his phone. Within minutes, they were at the hospital, and were greeted with Peridot and her mom.
