Sonic continued running. "There has to be a sign of him somewhere!" Sonic told himself. He stopped and looked along the rolling hills."Just a few miles from Island bluff." He said scanning the horizon for a clue. He noticed something abnormal jutting out of the dirt a little distance away. He ran towards it in Hope of finding Tails. When he reached the spot he was horrified by the sight. "Tails's plane." Sonic said to himself worriedly. He noticed the infamous two tailed logo on the wing. He searched around the wreckage for any clue of a body. There was none. "Good so he is alive." Sonic told himself. He studied the plane closely noticing the caked mud that had dried from the evening sun. "This looks like it must of happened yesterday." Sonic said nodding to himself. He looked at the rolling hills and few trees that separated him from the beach. "He could have gone anywhere!" Sonic thought to himself in a panic. Some kind of pain hit his heart. He shook it off. "I'll head to the beach, I'm sure he went that way." Sonic ran towards the beach. The huge sharp pointed rocks shadowing the beach. He looked for anything that could signify the fox had passed through here. He looked up and down and noticed something in the sand. It looked like what remained of a footprint. He bent down inspecting it closely. "That is definitely Tails's." He said looking up along the beach at the slowly fading footprints. The waves pushing sand over them to cover any trace of life. Sonic began running, the sand being pushed up behind him in a  rain of grains. He followed the footprints for miles. They suddenly stopped at the end of some shrubbary. Were beach met forest. Sonic looked up. The mountain towering in the distance. "He wouldn't have gone to Rainbow Falls....would he?" Sonic thought of all the climbing and dangers the fox would have to put himself through to get up there. Sonic began to worry for his best friends life. Sonic felt something. He couldn't put his finger on it. It was like he wanted to hug the fox and never let him go. He never felt this way before it was as if he...... he snapped out of it. He looked to the mountain again. "I better check there just in case." Sonic ran through the shrubbary And through the towering trees till he reached a little cliffside he jumped up on. He perked up his ears at the sound of a flowing river. He pushed past vines and climbed over logs till he came into view of the river. He followed the river untill he heard the sound of a waterfall. "Rainbow falls..." He said looking up at the magnificent beauty. He noticed the rainbow that formed underneath it showing of it's famed name. Sonic walked over and put his hair into it letting it trickled down his head. "Wow it's warm!" He said aloud, suprised. He thought he saw something in the reflection of the water, he turned around. "Tails?" Tails wasn't there, he looked back at the water where nothing was. The reflection must had been his imagination. He looked around trying to figure out were to go next. He noticed a nice rock nearby. He was so tired. "Maybe I'll just take a short nap first." He thought to himself. He walked over and layed on the rock. It was very warm and suprisingly comfortable. His eyes began to close. He thought he heard something move but was to tired to see what it was. He quickly fell fast asleep.
