Tails watched as the blue hedgehog disappeared above him. Darkness was all around. It was cold and chilly. Nothing but black. Any second he would hit the ground and it would be all over. No more pain, no more suffering, no more humiliation. Tails closed his eyes ready to accept his fate when he remembered what he had asked Sonic. "Do you love me?" He remembered the hedgehog's answer. Tails remembered the journeys and struggles the two had always made it through. Tails looked up. "I plan on making a few more." Tails tried winding his Tails up. They hurt greatly and one was sprained. He winced from the pain. "C'mon c'mon." He said trying harder the pain almost unbearable. He felt them start to move. He stopped in mid-air his namesakes keeping him afloat. "Hah hah world! Not today! Your not killing this damn fox!" He began lifting himself up farther and farther. He could see the light of daybreak. The cliffside shining a brown sleek color from the mud. He he made it up and over the edge. He slowly set himself down. He saw Sonic laying on the ground crying. Tails began walking over. His tails swishing behind him. The small breeze ruffling his fur. He bent over the hedgehog and tapped his shoulder. Sonic looked up. Tails kissed him with all of his beings The whole world didn't matter at that moment it was just him and Sonic. Just them. Sonic wrapped his arms around the fox pulling him close in a tight embrace. They both pulled away slowly. "I thought I'd lost you," Sonic said smiling with tears. Tails wiped away a tear with his hand. "The world can't get rid of me that easily." He said smirking. Sonic smiled and hugged Tails again in a large embrace. Tails returned the favor, doing the same. They both got up and looked across the horizon at the rising sun. The magnificent colors shining everywhere. "Sonic I'm sorry about everything. I thought the only way to escape my problem was to run away from them. Little did I know that my problems had been really my haven the whole time." He pressed his head against the hedgehog. Sonic reached his hand over and began stroking the fox fur. "Tails, Amy did say all that mean hurtful things to you......and she was wrong. You are what makes me tick every day. It just took me losing you to realize it." They held each other close and kept looking towards the horizon. "So does that make us a thing now?" Tails asked with a smile. " I believe so," Sonic said laughing. Sonic picked Tails up and swung him around making him laugh. He set him back down and went in for another kiss. This one just as magical as the first. "When we get back to town I believe we both could use a nice shower and then maybe have a little fun?" Sonic said blushing and smirking. "Sounds good to me." Tails said blushing that crimson color that made Sonic warm inside. Sonic picked him up and carried his lover, running, towards the town like he had just won the Nobel Peace Prize.
