"That Ruby girl gets outrageous each time I listen to her talk Beth, just like her daddy, I reckon she wants Lukie because he's the only male who doesn't want her" Anne-beth huffed as she complained to her best girl while she shoved trays into the oven.
"Well, there's Ezra, he's gorgeous and he isn't tripping o'er Ruby like them town boys do" Bethany answered as she coated the cakes in icing. "Who doesn't fall for Ezra's dreamy pair of chocolate eyes?"
"Ruby that's who, she hates him 'cause he's tripping o'er Lucas" she sassed, referring to Bethany's son.
"Anne-beth!" Bethany exclaimed in shock.
"Oh don't you 'Anne-beth' me, I know you see what I see" Anne scolded.
"I know Anne but" Beth sighed deeply "Kenny left 'cause this town's damn too homophobic, and I can't bear to lose Lukie too"
"Sorry Beth, we all miss him. These folks are just too nosy" She sympathized with her best friend. "You shouldn't have sold my guns Beth, I coulda issued a lil' warning."
"You were terrorizing that town girl, without a legit reason. Besides you know I'm gonna fight for my Lukie with the last drop of my blood Anne, I swear it"
"Let's just hope it doesn't come to that then because I really do like my blood"
