Lucas didn't see Ezra when he awoke from sleep, he assumed Ezra had a busy morning that's why he had left earlier than necessary.

"Morning Ma" he greeted and trudged into the house

"And where are you coming from young man, I was worried sick" his mom scolded, dishing pancakes into a plate for him.

"I feel asleep by the river with Ezra, stop worrying so much, I'm 22 and capable of taking care of myself" He mumbled through his pancake filled mouth.

"22 is still a kid, hell 50 is still a kid. So what happened?" She inquired with her chin resting on her hands.

"We talked a lot"

"And?"

"I really like him, like really really"

"Like him like you want to pat his hair or like him like you want to fu-?"

He cut her off "like him like I've planned our kids' names already"

Bethany wiped an imaginary tear and Lucas laughed.

"I'll feed the horses and then go over to his place, he was gone before I woke up" He explained as headed to the stables

Bethany frowned as a familiar feeling of dread settled on her bones.
"Okay son, please be careful"

Lucas was getting quite worried, Ezra's dad hasn't seen him since last night and it was almost dusk. He wasn't at their spot either.

He was about leaving the river when he caught sight of Ezra's boot by the side of the bush. The path looked like someone was dragged on it. Someone meaning Ezra. He quickly followed the trail to its destination.
