Ruby knew the sheriff was head over heels in love with her.

A woman knew things like that right off the bat and that was good, it'll make her plan easier.

She carefully streaked her face and dress with dust and tousled her hair before barging into the Sheriff's office.

"Sheriff Andrews" she sobbed "I need to talk to you, I'm afraid something's wrong"

The busy sheriff was suddenly unoccupied. "What is it Ruby?, what's wrong?" He quickly ushered her into the seat opposite his.

"Well, you see, I'm all messed up, streaked with dust and it's Ezra's fault" she sobbed into her hands occasionally meeting her blue eyes to his grey ones.

Andrews, on the other hand, was wondering the kind of sheets that'll look best with her brown locks spread over it.

"Sheriff Andrews! Are you listening to me?" She scoffed, flipping her hair "I said, I want Ezra to pay!"

"You still haven't told me what happened, Ruby" He answered, his mind still far away.

She went around his desk and sat on his lap, throwing her arms round his neck. That seemed to bring his mind back.

"I just need a hug Sheriff, since I'm so traumatized, I'm sure you understand" she whispered huskily.

He nodded furiously "that's my job y'know, giving service" he then gently placed his hands on the lacy fringe of her front bodice.

She gasped and shot up "Sheriff Andrews! How dare you do that to a proper lady like me? Oh, mama's gonna be so furious when I tell her, she thinks you're such a respectable kind sir!" She shouted, dusting her bodice as if to get his fingerprints away.

"Ruby, I'm so sorry, I thought you were- , oh God I'm so so sorry Ruby, I really am!" He apologized profusely looking confused.

"Well, since you're sorry, I s'pose you'll do what I asked to Ezra? Nothing to brutal, just a lil' roughing up by the town's thugs. Ain't that right Sheriff?"

He nodded, happy to have gotten out of that situation.

"One more thing" she said from behind his door "I'd take care of that problem if I were you" she chuckled before slamming the door.

The sheriff cursed and quickly dropped his hat in his lap.
