"Looks like I win again Ez" Lucas laughed as he jumped down from his horse.
"Well your horse is faster than mine" He whined, tying his horse to a tree.
"You sore loser, you used my horse the last time and you still lost!" Lucas laughed as he dipped his feet into the warm river heated by the hot June sun.
"You owe me another race Lukie, I'll win next time" Ezra laughed as he joined his best friend to cool off in the river.
They watched the sky as white clouds turned pink and then orange.
"What are you thinking of?" Ezra asked Lucas who was deep in thought.
He sighed dejectedly with eyes to the ground."I'm a coward, how can I ever live up to my dad?"
"You ain't a coward Luke, avoiding fights is being smart" Ezra replied soothingly
"You think so?" He asked with hope shining in his deep green eyes
"I know so, let's go to Barry's, I'll get you a drink" Ezra untied their horses and donned his hat.
"That'd be nice, thanks"
It's almost completely dark when the two friends decided that they've had enough shots. A slow song came on the jukebox and Lucas laughed.

Stop hitting on me🎶
"This is my favorite song, dance with me!" Slightly drunk Lucas asked while swaying on his feet.
"Since you asked so nicely" Ezra replied leading him to the dance floor.
And these two slightly drunk best friends danced their night away unaware of what Cupid had in store for them.
