The Dark Side Chapter 23

"Strike!" Harry yelled, throwing his arms in the air in victory. "Another strike while you all haven't scored one strike." I rolled my eyes and stood up to take my turn. "Try and do better Miss Perfect," Harry teased, walking past me. "Shush it," I muttered. He flashed me a grin before taking a seat next to Luke, wrapping his right arm around his shoulder just to scare the poor guy.

I shook my head and took the large, blue ball in my hand; placing my fingers in the three holes as I walked up to the lane. I waited patiently until the pins were neatly in their rows. I swung my arm back and just as I was about to toss the ball, a loud 'boo' startled me causing me to drop the ball.

I heard snickering from behind so I turned around and glared up at the person but my features instantly soften when I saw Luke standing there with a grin. "Luke!" I exclaimed. "Don't do that," I said, laughing at the funny situation. "I'm sorry Annabelle. I had to," he said. He couldn't keep the smile off of his face as he made his way back to the chairs. I even had a smile tugging at the corner of my lips but once I saw Harry's envious glare, I quickly looked away and the smile disappeared.

I breathed in through my nose and out my mouth then I threw my arm back and forward, letting go of the ball and have it roll down the wood lane. My middle and pointer finger crossed over each other as I hoped it would hit all the pins down. The group and I waited silently as we watched the blue ball. The ball made it's final roll down the lane at full speed and it finally hit all the pins down with a loud crash.

"STRIKE!" I hollered, throwing my hands in the air in victory. I turned around and pointed a finger at Harry. "I guess I am Miss Perfect after all," I said. I skipped over to him and sat down between him and Luke. "You're turn," I said to Isabelle. She didn't say a word as she stood up and walked over to the lane with her ball. "I don't know about you guys but I am hungry. I think I'm going to get nachos or something. Does anyone want anything?" I asked. "No thank you," Luke said. "I made an order earlier for the pizza. Do you mind picking it up at the food court? If it's not a problem," James asked. "It's not a problem," I said, sending him a small smile.

I ignored what Harry wanted and walked past him. His eyebrows raised in surprise and I couldn't help but let the smirk fall on my lips. The food court was by the bathrooms not far from our lane.

I walked up to the food counter and order what I needed to order before asking about the pizza. He told me it would be ten minutes or so until the pizza will be done. It was finishing cooking before he could bring it out from the back. I stood patiently against the counter by the bathroom but a sudden grip on my forearm pulled me away into the handicap bathroom.

The door was slammed shut and locked. There was a click noise letting me know the person had locked it. The flight flickered on and I saw Harry standing in front of the door with his arms folded across his chest and a scowl on his face. His intense stare had made me feel uncomfortable and a little awkward. A word never escaped his mouth so I decided to talk first but once I opened my mouth he had cut me off in a rude manner.

"You can be so stubborn sometimes and it's annoying," he said. "Am not," I huffed. "Now let me out of here." "No." "Yes." "No." "YES." "I said no Annabelle!" he yelled, throwing his arms to his sides in a tight fist where his knuckles were turning white. "Will you quit yelling!" I yelled back. "You're such a child," he said, rolling his eyes in annoyance. "I am not," I whined. He glanced at me and raised an eyebrow like I proved his point. I sighed and slid down on the wall onto the dirty floor of the bathrooms.

The bathroom was cramped and small with a sink and a filthy toilet. The soap dispenser on the wall was empty. On the walls, it had green and black stains everywhere and the floors were cracked with dirt in the corners. The light on the ceiling was dimmed and would flicker as if swings back and forth. On the mirror above the sink had graffiti and scratches along the corners. I felt dirty being in here.

"You give me headaches," I said, pulling my knees to my chest and rubbing my temples. He chuckled and sat against the wall across from me. "You give me migraines," he said. A smile tugged on my lips and I bubbled a laugh out. "We are so different yet so alike," I said. "I wonder how a good girl like me fell in love with a bad-boy like you." "To be honest, I don't know what you see in me," he said, shrugging his shoulders as he looked at me.

I crawled across the tile floor to him and sat in his lap. I forced him to wrap his arms around me by grabbing his arms. "It's my turn to tell you how amazing you are," I said. "You may be bad, scary, mean, cocky, careless, self-conceited, rude-" "Get to the point." I chuckled and said, "Let me finish. You are a wonderful guy inside who likes to keep his feelings hidden well. You may be all those things but I know deep down you care and would do anything to save others who you care for. You may not show it but I know you do and that's what I love." A smile fell on his face as he played with my hands, keeping his gaze down from my eyes.

"You're artistic, funny, lovable, amazing, cute-" "I prefer hot." "Don't ruin it Styles." He laughed and looked up at me. "Maybe one day I will get to draw you," he whispers. I smiled before lifting my hand up hesitantly and pushed back his curls. He closed his eyes and rested his head against my forehead. "Maybe you will," I whisper. "I try not to say this word a lot but I love you Annabelle. I never felt like this before. You make my world turn upside down and my heart to flutter. You put a smile on my face and I would do anything for you with a snap of a finger. Just say the word and I will be there for you." "That's the most romantic thing you have ever said," I said. "Please do not tell anyone about this," he said, opening his eyes to look at me. I laughed and nodded. "This can be our secret," I said.

"How about one night I will take you out on a..." He pauses, gulping as he manages to stutter the word 'date'. I chuckled and said, "I would love that." He smiled and pulled me in a tight embrace. "Just don't get used to it Annabelle." "I love you too Harry," I said. He laughed before standing up and offering me a hand up. I gladly accepted it and he pulled me up. "Let's get out of this dirty, disgusting place," he said. "I think they are waiting for us." "I think they are-" I was cut off by a loud gun shot ringing through out the bowling alley.

I jumped and grabbed onto Harry who looked confused but not frighten. As for me, I was scared out of my mind. The first thing that came to mind was me being killed. "Harry," I whimper in fear. Multiple gun shots sounded off and a bunch of screaming. Harry wrapped a protecting arm around me. "What's going on?" I asked.

He ignored me as he opened the door. "Stay by me at all times and do not leave my sight," he ordered. I nodded vigorously without arguing. We walked out to see everyone running around in fear. Some pushing past others and some in shock- not being able to move. Most of the people were badly injured with cuts on their bodies or bruises.

Everything was chaotic as some people tried to call nine-one-one and to leave to save their lives. I couldn't find Luke, Isabelle, or James anywhere in sight. They must have left already. I was scared out of my mind as I didn't know what was going to happen tonight.

What scared me the most wasn't the gun shots firing or the terror screams filling my ears. At the entrance of the bowling alley was a group of tall men wearing black hockey masks that had the eyes netted so you couldn't see in. There had to have been about ten men. On the mask, there was no mouth opening and there were one red mark across each eye hole. They held shotguns, machetes, and hand guns. They wore all black with a red belt that held other dangerous things. In the middle of the large group of men was a short girl with blonde hair who wore the black hockey mask.

Harry's grip on me tightened more and his whole body went tense. Screams continued to fill the room and more gun shots fired but they weren't at people. They were shooting at the ceiling just to scare people. The scene in front of me unfolded as people were now being injured from other people being scared.

Then the lights went out and I felt a black bag being pulled over my head, my hands being tied behind my back, and myself being separated from Harry.
