Chapter 6: How did I not know?

Hyun Jae's P.O.V

All three of us went to class. As normal.

(Time Skip To Lunch)

We all went to lunch and sat down at the table near the window. We were eating peacefully and just

laughing together getting to know each other. Then Irene says, "Sungjae can I ask you a question?" He

nods. "Why don't you like Jeon So Rin?" She asks. He replies, "Because when I was little, I made a

promise to a girl that I would never forget her, we haven't been in contact lately because she left at

the age of 12, she told me she was going to leave and didn't know when she was going to come back

and that I shouldn't text her anymore or something might happen to me." My eyes widen. They don't

notice though. "What was her name?" I asked him, making my voice seem normal. "Her name? She

never told me, but she told me to call her Eun Ae. She gave me this bracelet though it was half of a

heart, she told me the day I met her that, she was going to give it to someone but they rejected it so

she gave it to me, we talked and met for a few times but then she left and I don't know where she

went. But I am still keeping the promise I said to her, because she was my first love." He replied. "It is

him." I said in my head. "I have to go to the bath room, I'll be back." I said as I stood up. I went to the

bathroom and I checked to make sure no one was in the stalls. No one was inside so I locked the

bathroom door. I took off my cap, glasses and mask. I took off my necklace which was hidden, it was

the other half of the heart. "How did I not know?" I asked myself. "How did I not notice that his name

sounded familiar?" I asked myself.

Flashback to when she was 11

I was sad and sat on a bench since, when I tried to give my bracelet to Taehyung, he rejected me and

made me embarrassed in front of everybody. I saw this kid pushing another small kid. I went up to them

and pushed the kid. "Stop hurting him!" I yelled. "Why should I?" The kid asked. My uncle had taught me

how to fight. I punched the kid and said, "Leave." The kid just left, holding his stomach in pain. I turned

around to the other kid on the ground and stuck my hand for him to grab. He grabbed my hand and I

helped him get up. "Are you okay?" I asked. He nodded. "What's your name?" I asked. "Sungjae." He

replied. "What's yours?" He asked. "Can't tell you but call me Eun Ae." I said. "Do you have a phone?" He

asked. I nodded. "Can you give me your phone number?" He asked. "Sure." I replied. We exchanged

phone numbers. "Do you want this?" I asked him as I showed him one half of the heart necklace which

was a bracelet. "Sure." He replied. I gave it to him. "Where's the other half?" He asked. I showed him my

necklace. "It looks pretty. Why'd you give it to me?" He asked. "I wanted to give it to someone but they

rejected it, when I saw you, I felt like you were the one to be with it." I said. "Thanks. Eun Ae." He said.

"No problem." I replied.

*In Flashback* Time skip to 1 year later

I got tired of everything going wrong for me. I made my mind up and said, "I have to leave." Then my

phone beeped. It was a message from Sungjae. "Hey Eun Ae, wanna talk?" He said. I replied, "I can't and I

don't think I will. I'm leaving. I don't know when I might be back. Don't text or call me, I don't know what

they might do to you. Erase my number from your phone. Promise me you will do that." I texted back. "I

promise and I also promise to not forget you, and since you are leaving I might as well tell you." He

texted, a minute later he texted, "I like you, and I promise I won't like any other girl, I will wait for you." I

didn't know what to feel. ''I have to go, I don't know when I might come back just remember me through

the bracelet I gave you." I texted. He sent me a smiley emoji. After that, I erased his number and smashed

my phone. I ran off. I walked and walked and didn't look back. I don't know for how long I have walked. I

knew it had been days now. I stumbled upon a house. I felt dizzy and collapsed. I woke up in a hospital,

where my name had been "changed". My name was now, Min Hyun Jae the name of a girl who lost her

life but everyone did not know, her parents decided to help me by making people believe I was their

daughter.. A few people, like my doctor, knew who I really was but promised to not say a word to anyone

including my real parents that I was alive. Instead the doctors set it up, to seem that I have died, this

would keep my parents off track in finding me. But why would they be off track if they didn't even try to

find me. Min Chae-young (Rose) and Min Yoongi were now my new parents. I felt happy and loved.

Time in present

"I can't tell him I am, right now he only knows that I am who I am, what will he think of me if he finds

out I am Eun Ae." I said to myself. I put my mask, glasses and cap back on and headed back to the

lunch room. I saw them talking together. I went to the table and sat down. "What took you so long?"

Irene asked. "Nothing, just got distracted when I heading back." I replied. Then I felt a slight tap on my

shoulder. I turned around and saw Taehyung. "Come with me please." He said. "What N-" I wasn't able

to finish because he was already dragging me outside.
