Donovan's POV~

The next day there was no commotion between Ian and his bullies. Though that was probably due to Ian not being in the cafeteria during lunch. Luckily I didn't run into Cole at all this morning either. If I ever see that guy I am definitely going to punch him. Even if Ian told me not to get involved. As I was walking to my class after lunch I heard my name being called out. Turning around I see Ian sprinting up to me.

"Hey Donovan," he said once he was in earshot of me.

"Hey, Ian. What's up?" I said giving him a smile as he came to a stop in front of me.

"I just wanted to tell you that we're not going to meet up today for your tutoring session," he said smiling back at me.

"Why?"

"Well since there is a home game today, you should worry about that more than not having enough time after our session to be back here and get ready for the game."

"Oh cool. Okay, are you going to the game?" I ask hoping to see him there tonight.

"Well yeah, I kind of have to. I'm in the band remember."

"Oh right, so I'll see you there then?"

"Yup I'll be there cheering you on and playing some encouraging music for you," he said before turning back around. "I've got to get to class. See you at the game!"

"See ya!" Turning back around I head to my class.

It was Friday night the sound of people talking and footsteps on the stands softly drifted into the locker room where the team and I were all getting ready for the home game today.

Everyone was doing their own type of ritual as they got dressed by their lockers. Drake was blasting a rock song through his headphones. Slouching on the bench as he tried to not think too much about the game and how it was going to end. Looking up every five seconds at the clock checking for when the game will start. Thomas was anxiously chewing a piece of gum that has for sure lost its flavor by how hard he was chewing on it, though even with the loss of flavor he was still chewing it.

I was moving around the locker room trying to keep my blood pumping and my hands warm. For some reason, my hands always turn freezing cold whenever I get nervous. So I make sure to flex them and rub them together to keep the blood moving into them.

Looking over at the clock in the room I see that there are about ten minutes until the game is about to start. The sound from outside comes rushing in as the coach enters the room.

"Alright, guys huddle up!" he yelled into the room. Everyone stopping what they were doing and gathering in the middle of the locker room.

"Tonight we're up against a really tough school. So I want all you seniors to really give it to them an block them when we start. You guys all know the first play so let's get out there and win this for the school!"

Everyone cheered at the end of his pep talk. We all quickly rushed back to our lockers and put on the last of our equipment.

As I pulled my jersey down my torso I feel Thomas nudge me in the side.

"Hey Donovan are you going to be alright tonight?" he asked looking at me with some concern in his eyes.

"Uh, yeah. Why?" I said giving him a weird look.

"It's nothing, just that all week you've been kind of distant. Especially during practice."

"Oh don't worry about it. I'm fine. Today my mind is all on the game," I say trying to reassure him that I'm fine.
