What has happened to my life? Part 3

Chapter 3 What Just Happened??

Kristina looked suspicious, but also a little happy. Could he be asking what I think he is??

Kristina:what do you want to ask me?

Joey:will you go out with me?

Kristina looked as suprised as I felt. Joey probably thought she was going to say no because when I looked over at him he had on a puppy dog face and held hands together like he was praying. I raised an eyebrow. Joey didn't really act like he liked her like she does. I looked over at Kristna for a reaction. She had on a face that made it look like she was thinking about it, but I knew better. Finally she sends him back a text. When he gets the text he looks so happy. He was beaming and when their eyes met it got even brighter out. Kristina gave Joey a small smile, but I saw the emotion behind it. I felt happy just because she's happy and that he likes her. I always knew this was going to happen. I was kinda getting tired standing around because we had been doing that all day.

"Hey let's go inside and then you can stare at your new boyfriend ok?" I whispered to her so that no one else would hear because I wasn't sure if they were ready to be public yet.

"Uh huh..."

She didn't hear a word I said. This might be a while. I just pulled on her arm while she said to Joey that she would see him inside. I knew she was trying to make it look like she was saying it to mom and Nathan too, but she is too dazed.

"Come on Kris! We have to go inside!!"

I tried to stop herself from getting embarassed because she was trying to anchor herself to the floor and mom and Nathan were staring.

"I don't care!! Let me go!!"

She tried to get me off and she tried hard, but I was determined to get her inside because I knew she would care later.

"You'll thank me later." Nathan just stood there staring at us, but mostly me... I think. Joey just stood there drooling over Kristina. Mom... She was just getting everything out of the car.

"Kris if you don't get your big butt in the house right now I will have to smack you."

This seemed to wake her up because she wasn't staring at Joey anymore and she looked a little scared.

"Ok ok i'm coming."

When I pulled open the back door and walked in to the kitchen the dragon jumped on us.

"Hey Brumby!"

I scratched behind his ears. After he got down I heard dad in the dungeon. He probably just got home and he goes to the basement to play on his computer designed just for his special game. Wow. I opened the gate and the dragon ran through. He stopped in the middle of the computer room and rolled onto his back on the pale carpet. I squatted down and scratched his stomach. Kristina just came through the gate so I walked with her to the living room. We sat on to the big black couch. Kristina tryed to get Brumby's attention by clapping twice. It worked because Brumby's ears stood up and he ran. He jumped on the ottoman and jump off of it onto the couch in between us with his bone all without stopping. That's right! He's all that and a bag of chips! We both laughed. Joey walked in carrying his bag. He dumped it on the ground and plopped down on the couch in front of the fireplace.

"Man i'm pooped."

"Hey Joey I have to show you something. Come on!"

Kristina pulled him up by the wrist and led him upstairs. After five minutes I walked upstairs to take a leak. On the way to the bathroom I saw that Kristina's door had a sock on the doorknob. I quickly covered my mouth and ran in the bathroom. I let out a few giggles then calmed down. I looked in the mirror and saw my hair. It was a rat's nest! I looked for a brush, but didn't find one. I wet my hands and ran it through my hair trying to smooth it down. I quickly did my buisness and went downstairs. I went to the snack cabinet and pulled out some chips. I plopped down on the same couch and turned the tv to Degrassi. Nathan walked in looking bushed and sat down next to me.

"What you watching?"

"Degrassi."

"Oh can I see the remote?"

"Sure."

"Hmmm let's see what's on."

Nathan actually put on SpongeBob SquarePants.

"Really Nathan?"

"You're right it's not romantic enough."

I stared at him with my mouth open.

"What?"

I shook my head.

"It's nothing."

I needed to get some gum so I walked upstairs, but I heard someone following me. I turned and saw Nathan.

"Aren't you going to go watch SpongeBob?"

"Not without you."

"Umm I just need some gum..."

"Ohh well I have some."

I walked up the remaining steps and waited for him to get to the top. When he did he opened his bedroom door and beckoned me inside. I only sleep in here with Kristina when Nathan's not home because her room has no air conditioning. It reeked in here. It smelled like sweat and man. I must've made a face because Nathan gave me an apologetic smile. While he rifled through his drawers I went to sit on his bed. I looked around the room. There was a dresser, bookshelf, posters, and a pile of broken skateboards in the corner. Nathan must've found the gum because he sat on the bed next to me.

"Only one piece left, but you can have it."

"Oh thanks."

I felt kinda bad about taking his last piece of gum, but I popped it in my mouth and started chewing.

"Hey can I have some of your gum?"

"How can you have some? I'm already chewing it."

"I'll show you how."

Then he started leaning towards me. My heart started racing and my palms felt slick with sweat. I felt the blood rushing to my face. Then his lips touched mine. The gum was in between us now, but when he pulled back I had gotten it. Nathan arubtly got up and opened the door.

"I think you should leave now."

I saw the slight coloring in his cheek and his hair was a little messed up.

"But I-"

"I really think you should go now."

He wanted me to leave right after he kissed me like that? I felt a little hurt, but I tried to get out of there as fast as I could. Is this what Kristina and Joey were doing? I walked down the stairs confused,hurt, and a little angry. When I got downstairs mom was sitting on the couch playing Fall Out. She looked up from the tv which she rarly did and asked me to do something.

"Could you call everyone down here?"

Once everyone wa in the living room mom cleared her throat and started.

"Everyone I have some news."

Her eyes swept everyone ones. Joey and Kristina were sitting next to each other and I could see them holding hands behind their backs. Mom sat next to me on one of the couchs and Nathan was sitting as far away as he could from me on the single chair. He was looking down so I couldn't see his face and he couldn't see mine. Even though mom gave us all confused looks she continued.

"We are moving to California."
