"So, after yesterday, no explosions."
Tony stood in the lobby of the Avengers building. Peter was doing 'pull ups' with his web slinger in the corner. Sophia sat on the couch with Natalia and Scott.
The Avengers tend to cycle in and out of this tower; different team members here every weekend, needing to figure out their own hometown or international issues. Except for Tony, Peter and Wanda. Sophia sees each of them for a substantial amount of time.
She's stuck with Peter since they live together. He also exposed her to her powers so she isn't necessarily annoyed with spending so much time with him. He provided her with help, clarification with her new trait, and mainly comfort. Sophia was very thankful for her time spent with Peter.
Not to mention, he is cute too, so that's a plus for her."Just manage your powers. Keep those hands clasped."
"Tony, we aren't really a group that tells people to tuck away their abilities."
He turned his head to look at Natalia, pursing his lips,
"The ground out there is electrically charged. She has enough electrical energy to cause mass destruction."
"It was a training method," Sophia mumbled.
"What? You're walking on a thin wire being here, missy. You're not an Avenger, you may never be. You could end up being a villain in five years if you don't learn how to control your powers and listen to our training."
Peter dropped from the ceiling and approached the group at the couches. He heard Tony scolding Sophia and had to investigate. Luckily, Wanda was headed down the hall when Tony started talking, so the pair were coming to be Sophia's aids.
"Enough,"
A ripple in the atmosphere, was briefly visible as Wanda cast her hand in front of her. Time stopped, except she and Tony kept on with their lives.
"Leave her alone, for God sake. I told her to do that move. I should've known it would've been dangerous, but so what? This is how you improve your powers. You fail and keep trying. She's still learning. She's a child."
"Exactly, she's a child!"
Wanda lowered herself to the ground, only starting to levitate out of anger while yelling at Tony, she cast her hand back out subtly before Tony continued.
"I don't want her hurt. That move could've seriously injured her, Wanda. She's a child, she's fragile just like Peter."
"You don't train them like their fragile," Wanda kept up the act that everyone else was still frozen in time.
"Because they're strong, but innocent and unbeknownst of the strongest forces in the universe. I want to protect their vulnerability while creating them into strong individuals. The bliss they have towards life because they don't know what's out there is beautiful. You can see it in their hearts."
"That's why you've been so cold?"
Tony's head whipped over to Sophia, who spoke up, then back to Wanda,
"No more reality warping!"
Wanda smiled, "we got you to open up, metal head."
Sophia looked at Tony expectantly as he avoided eye contact. Peter was hovering a bit too close so Tony nudged him gently.
Natalia and Scott sat there intently, waiting for the rest of this show."Okay first, what have I told you? A foot at least unless I initiate something," Tony lightheartedly scolded Peter as he motioned at the distance between them.
"Sophia. I mean what I said, your well-being is important to me. You both are talented beyond belief but someone has to do the worrying around here.""You don't have to worry about me," Sophia clarified, "I appreciate the concern but I lost a guide years ago when my father had his accident. I don't expect you to treat me like a child, I look up to you, Tony. Treat me like any other mutant and train me."
Tony noted her courageous input and nodded with a small smile,
"Very well. I'll keep the worry to a minimum.""You can worry about me all you want, Mr. Stark but I won't let you down."
Tony turned to Peter, "You're going to kill me before Thanos ever could with the amount of worry I have stored up from you. Actually, It's more like stressed," he teased.
Peter huffed but gave Tony a smile,
"Well now that Sophia has declared her dependency, why don't we come up with a superhero name?""Isn't this a sleepover game you kids can play later," Scott jokingly questioned.
"No, no, it'll be fun!"
"Okay, how about Elektra," Sophia tried.
"Taken."
"Storm?"
"Taken."
"Aurora?"
"Nope."
"Shocker."
"You're screwing the pooch hard at this point."
"Spider-Woman," Scott smirked.
Peter glared at him and blushed, "Ha-ha, nice try."
Sophia sighed, "How about you just email me a list of all the taken superhero names and I'll just start from there?"
Tony chuckled, "we'll find a suitable name for you eventually. Right now, we have a shed to fix."
"Shed?"
"Yes, we surveyed the grounds carefully this morning, Sophia actually pierced a clean hole through the shed where we store training equipment and the lawnmower."
"I can effect steel?"
"We have a lawnmower," Peter hummed.
Sophia examined her hands cautiously. A tiny ripple of blue emitted along a vein, almost like a electric current running through a translucent cord.
What else could she do with these newfound powers?
