Sophia groaned in frustration, she moved her fingers to try and lighten the feel of the symbiote on her. Her hands kept tingling from her electricity trying to leave her finger tips but she felt the looming presence of the black tar beneath her skin preventing the burst to move.

"What's the matter?"

Eric sat a foot away with his fingers intertwined on his lap. The scientists at OSCORP set up some training mechanisms for Sophia. He wanted her to strengthen her bond with the symbiote and minimize the chances of it taking over her. He didn't mention the latter but he has witnessed it on previous subjects. If he wants to follow through with his plans for recruiting her then he has to make sure she feels safe and not possessed by an alien substance.

"I have just felt this heavy feeling since it like," her mouth twitched as she tried to think of the right word, "took over me."

"Oh no, the symbiote is simply apart of you. It is meant to enhance your abilities."

Sophia sighed and wrung at her wrist, "you've told me that. It just seems like it's doing the exact opposite."

"You know how you can't feel the fabric of your clothes touching your skin," Eric started
"You can only really feel it sitting there when you consciously think about it. That's like the symbiote, you know it is there and eventually the feeling of it weighing you down will become nothing."

He pokes one gentle finger against her skin which causes the black of the symbiote to ripple like water and then disappear into her pale flesh again,

"It's here to help. Now, summon your electricity not to destroy but control. Aim for the chimpanzee."

Sophia's jaw went slack at his command but yet her arm raised almost on her own, as she ignored the weight below her surface her limbs almost felt numb. She focused on the wriggling chimp but avoided making eye contact. She was slowly engulfed in the black tar substance creeping up her arm like thick vines. As her current rushed out of her the symbiote stopped at her shoulder.

The second the electricity hit the chimp, he screeched and went neurotic. Sophia dropped her hand as she coward back. The chimpanzee was once docile and now he was throwing the metal chair he sat on as foam seeped from his mouth. Eric watched with a smirk on his thin lips while Sophia stared in shock. The chimp eventually collapsed onto the tile floor and scientists rushed around it to clear him from the area. One made his way over to Eric and showed him the results of the chimp's brain activity. His smile grew as he rose from his seat and stood in front of Sophia.

"What have I done?"

"What your limits wouldn't let you to before," he grabbed her hands,
"You've accomplished great things today. We learned you have the maximum ability to control the nerve endings in brains. Every single one of his neurons lit up from your current. You have neural impulse manipulation."

"I hurt that monkey," she whispered.

Eric soothed her briefly by grabbing her hands before pulling away like she was toxic, "you discovered a whole new level to your power. Something the Avengers never let you reach."

"I don't think they knew."

"Well, I know your potential and you made me very proud today. The symbiote grows immune to the electricity as you use it and soon he will be invincible."

"He?"

Eric signaled for a security guard to guide Sophia out like usual, when their sessions are done.

"It, my apologies. It is making you invincible, sweet girl."

Sophia watched the chimpanzee get a white sheet draped over it as she was escorted out. A dark force in her whispered soothing urges to move on from that minor death. She suddenly didn't feel so bad for a test subject, she is simply bettering herself through science.

"What have you been up to," Peter questioned while they get ready for bed.

"Photography club has been on me about completing all these projects before the end of the year," she lied almost too easily.

Peter eyed her from his spot on the bottom bunk and motioned for her to approach him. She finished putting her hair in a ponytail and obeyed his silent order. The mattress sunk from her weight and Peter shifted so he was facing her better,

"I'm sorry school is making you so busy," he grabbed for her wrist and gently ran his fingers up and down her scars; watching her veins glow when he brushed over them. She watched his fingers cautiously to make sure the symbiote didn't make itself known.

She hates hiding this secret from Peter, especially since they've never kept something from each other. He was almost immediately open about being Spider-Man and the life it gave him. While she never was able to hide her powers from him because he was there to see them come to life. It isn't like she wants to keep her meetings with OSCORP hidden but she knew he would tell Tony anything. It's not like she thought anything negative about OSCORP, she truthfully saw it as her own secret training without feeling shamed or not good enough for the Avengers.
The main reason for not telling the truth, was that ever since Tony basically turned her away she'd felt distant from the Avengers. At least the voice is telling her to do so.

"I know but that's the cool thing about us living together in a sense. We always get to see each other at the end of the day."

Peter nodded and stilled his movements. He looked at Sophia and leaned over to give her a gentle kiss. He always seemed to touch her like she'd break, or that chilling voice reminded her that maybe he's afraid that she would break him.

"I just don't want you to slip right out of my grasp from us distancing ourselves with life."

She looked at Peter while thoughts of life flashed through her brain; terrible possible futures in which she wreaked havoc among not only civilization but the Avengers. The voice putting these images in her mind,
"don't let me go."
