Woodland Dreams

Pitter patter goes the leaves,

Shaking and falling,

To a bitter breeze.

Lost in the dark wood,

Hoping for a light,

Wishing to go home like I should,

Seeing something in the distant shine bright.

Lanterns are scattered here,

A place the darkness can't reach,

You're standing there without fear,

They say this emotion you must teach.

Tonight I can't sleep,

I'm just here writing in this book,

Waiting for the alarm to beep,

Hoping you will never look.

Day is something I never thought I'd wish for,

Until you came into the woods with a light,

Taking all the darkness away and more,

With you and your lantern shining bright.

I know it'll be fine,

Just as long,

As it will shine.
