"finally!" i shout when we manage to get to the harbor in one piece and find a parking space. Luke jumps out of the truck excitedly and slams the door, running to my side and wrenching the door open.
"come on!" he shouts, pulling me out. i laugh and manage to pull the keys out before he completely yanks me out of the truck.
"i'm coming hold on" i laugh. "i have to actually turn off the truck Luke, and maybe lock it? you know so it doesn't get stolen" he groans impatiently.
"ok are you ready now?" he asks. i nod and he takes hold of my hand and starts to pull me through crowds of people.
"Luke, where are we going?!" I shout over the noise of the busy streets.
"Come on," Is all he says excitement in his tone. I just smile and shake my head, allowing myself to be pulled along behind him.
"you're like an excited puppy" I say when we come to a stop at a street crossing. he just laughs, the grin never leaving his face. once it's safe for us to cross he is pulling me again. we weave in and out of people, just barely missing running into them. I apologize to everyone that has to jump out of the way of Luke and I. he's on a mission to who knows where but he seems to know exactly where to go.
"were almost there" he says, still grinning ear to ear.
"and where is there?" I ask, as he hasn't told me where he is taking me yet. he just laughs and shakes his head, then i'm being dragged again.
Finally he comes to a stop and i can catch my breath. I'm sweating now, he made me wear a winter jacket in the middle of summer.
"look!" he points excitedly and for the first time i notice that we are actually on the water. whoa. I look around in awe, if you discount the amount of people, this is amazing! the ocean is so blue and the sun is shining making everything look brighter. This must be the Harbor he was talking about, i note when I see all the ships and sailboats.
"wow" i say stunned and he nudges me with his elbow.
"see, I told you you would like it." he grins at me and I can't help but smile back, his grin is contagious.
"I've never been on the coast before." I admit and he looks shocked to be hearing that.
"what?! seriously?" i nod.
"but we came here when we were little with our moms?" he says as a question. i nod, i do remember that.
"i know, but we only went to Hyde park, and the City center, we never came to the harbor." i explain. he nods, remembering the trip.
"you're right. well that's stupid, why didn't we go to the beach?" he asks, perplexed.
"because we came here to Busk at Hyde park." i say, remembering Luke whining about not having enough time to go to the beach. I laugh to myself thinking about something.
" i don't think i'm a very good Australian," he looks at me confused.
"I've lived two hours from the ocean my whole life and I've never been to the beach" I confess and he gapes at me.
"you have to be kidding me?" he says not wanting to believe me. i just smile guiltily.
"you, my best friend in the whole world, are going to the beach today" he says seriously which makes me laugh.
"but-"i try to protest.
"nope! were going end of discussion." he says, pulling out his phone and tapping on it.
