Jo
It was apparent that Alex was distracted on the way home and so I didn't say anything. It was around 7 but the sun had just started to set. Watching the sun set between the buildings of Seattle was one of my favorite things. Actually, my favorite thing was watching the sun set by the water with Alex. Sometimes he would take me when we left early like today, but I think the Izzie situation had him distracted.

Izzie was exactly as I pictured her to be. Perfect. I had so many questions about her but looking at Alex now, I could tell it just wasn't the time to ask.

We live a little over 10 minutes away from the hospital but in that time I started to doze off. I was awaken by Alex's hand on my thigh.

"Jo, do you want to go to the water? It's a beautiful day." He said looking out the window.

"Yeah, yeah I do." I said

Alex caught the next left taking us to beach. It only took us a minute or two to get there, setting the sun in a perfect position to watch it set over the water and behind the city. We got out of the car and sat on the bench in the grassy area before the beach.

"Are you okay?" I asked squinting to see him through the glare of the sun.

"I'm okay." He answered, turning his head to look at me. "Things ended a long time ago. Long before I met you even. It was rough back then but not anymore. Now she is just a doctor and I'm just her colleague."

"Can I ask a few question? You know, just to catch up."

"Fire away" he laughed

"You always said she left but you never said why."

"Seattle wasn't home for Izzie and I wasn't enough to make it home for her. I knew that. And so one day, out of the blue, she left and left me a note." He looked down at the ground "I wouldn't say I was surprised just taken aback a bit."

"I'm sorry." I said lacing my arm with his. I didn't want to ask anymore questions. I just wanted to watch the sunset and go home.

Alex
I had to leave early the next morning which wasn't my favorite thing to do. I was well rested from last night but I wasn't looking forward to spending all day with Izzie. I told Jo that I wasn't mad at Izzie anymore but to be honest, I have no idea how I feel
about her surprise arrival. What I do know is I'm going to go do my job and for now that was enough. I met Meredith in the parking garage once again, and once again Jo darted into the hospital to mentor her Idiots.

"Hey Zo" I said giving her a fist bump and sweeping up Ellis who was trying to catch up to her fast walking mom, but slowly falling behind.

I walked into the hospital with Meredith and immediately ran into Izzie who was arguing with Christina over a patient.

"You are only suppose to take care of your patient and then you suppose to leave, Blondie." Christina said snatching a chart from Izzie's hand and slamming it on the counter.

"Actually, I have full access" Izzie shot back grabbing the chart back from the counter.

"What the hell is going on here?" Meredith yelled walking up to the heated conversation. I followed, hesitantly.

"This over competent doctor is trying to steal my patients" said Christina grabbing the chart back once again.

"Christina for the last time I have full access." Izzie yelled

"Woah, woah, woah." Meredith said stopping the conversation "Izzie they only give full access to doctors who are staying more then six weeks. How long are you going to be here?"

Izzie looked at me and then back at Christina "you know what, just take it." She said walking away.

I am literally so tired so there will be many mistakes in this chapter so sorry. Things may seem okay for everyone right now in but the next chapter it starts going down hill.

You've been warned.
So here is a snippet from the next chapter

Alex
"Okay but you have been acting off today and so I don't believe you when you say you are fine anymore!" Jo shot back.

I'm not sure what happened to make me react so poorly. I wasn't mad at her. I was frustrated with the questioning and lack of confidence that Izzie had in me and it piled up.

"JO NOT EVERYONE FREAKS OUT WHEN THEIR EX SHOWS UP JUST BECAUSE YOU DID." I yelled. And all at once the anger left my body and I was stunned. So was Jo.

It looked like she was processing what I said. I was processing it too. Then, she looked down at the ground and back up at me and a single tear left her hazel eyes and fell down her face.

"I'm done arguing Alex. I'm going to bed that way I'm not too over dramatic." She said as she walked into the bathroom and slammed the door.
