Jolex: Izzie's Return

Chapter Twelve

I didn't sleep well last night. Jo tossed and turned and even though she slept on the couch, I still heard her. That wasn't the only thing that kept me up. I cheated last night. I did the one thing that I swore I would never do and I was stuck between telling or not telling Jo. One option would screw up my present and the other could screw up my future.

I looked at the clock. 5:47. The alarm clock blared at 5:30. It was early but Jo wanted to go to the hospital and check on her patients because she passed them off yesterday. She didn't stir at the sound so I went over to check on her. I laughed at the sight. She was laying on her back with her arm over her eyes and all the blankets that previously covered her were now laying on the floor in between the coffee table and the couch.

"Hey wake up." I said after planting a kiss on her forehead and heading to the kitchen to make coffee.

I heard her move "I have a blaring headache." She said a moment later.

I chuckled "maybe coffee will help."

She winced "stop talking so loud."

I got a little confused and walked over and put my hand on her head. "You are still burning up." I said. "Maybe you should get checked out by one of the physicians."

"It's a cold Alex I'm not dying."

I tilted my head "Yeah that would suck."

She gave me a smile and Rolex her eyes and then winced again. "Ouch that heart what the hell."

I walked back to the kitchen and grabbed the coffee I made and the Advil. Then I walked back over and handed them both to her. She grabbed her phone off the table and looked at the time.

"Crap I'm going to be late." She said jumping up. When she stood up I saw her shift like she was dizzy.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine." She said rubbing her eyes and talking the coffee and Advil. When she was done she rushed into the bathroom. When I heard the shower start I picked up the phone and called Meredith.

"Hello." She said. She sounded like she had just woken up.

"Mer I made a mistake." I whispered taking extra caution.

There was silence on the other end of the line as if she was reading my mind. "What did Izzie say? And what did you do?"

I told her the conversation we had and then what happened after. There was a long pause. "First off I'm not going to tell you you are dumb because you're already going to beat yourself up." She said sounding calm and collected. "Next you have to decide why you didn't pull away. Was it because of past feelings or current feelings?"

I thought about the question but my silence was enough of an answer for Meredith.

"Alex, maybe you should talk to Jo. Maybe you need... time... to figure out what you are going through." She said

"I don't have to figure it out, Mer. I love Jo." I said back raising my voice a little.

"You can love Jo all you want. You can love Izzie too. And you can love them both at the same time. It comes down to who are you IN love with." She paused "either way you should wait to tell Jo. I can't tell you how she is going to react. All I can tell you is don't be that guy who springs it on her as soon as you are walking out the door to leave. She doesn't deserve that."

"I know." I said rubbing my face to relieve tension. "She doesn't deserve any of this. But I'm not telling her right now. She is still sick. I mean she stood up and almost passed out. I guess it's a migraine."

"Okay. I will see you at work." She said hanging up the phone.

I know it is short and I'm sorry.

Anyway I wanted to explain a little bit in the form of questions you guys may have.

Q: Why is Alex questioning his relationship when he was so happy?
A: when a huge part of your life shows up you can't just brush it off like it didn't leave a whole in your heart. Alex is human and he is going to question what will make him the happiest. It doesn't matter how much he loves Jo because there is alway that chance that he may love or may have loved Izzie more. Keep reading to find out.

Q: What the hell is wrong with Jo.
A: well a fever can cause a headache. No she is not being poisoned by Izzie even though I thought about it. I didn't want to suddenly make Izzie a criminal. This flu brings up a situation that I wanted to happen and that is why I wrote it in and I will tell you what situation that is when it comes up. Keep reading though!

Q: Why isn't there a lot of Jolex in a book about Jolex?
A: this is a literal question I got and it was followed by a "I was looking for romance" and the answer is simple: They aren't obsessed with each other. They are at a point in their relationship where they don't have to mention each other every 2 seconds or make out every 2 seconds to signify they are in a relationship. If you want drama and realism then stay but if you want an erotica then look elsewhere.

Q: Is Alex going to tell Jo and how might she react?
A: Okay so I actually have this chapter in the works right now so it is coming soon. Two words : accidental information. Jo has trust issues but they are only in certain situations. I really don't know how to explain it. I will tell you that they will get into a pretty heated argument that will end a little poorer the Alex intended it too and that breaks the trust a bit. This argument may or may not be related to Izzie. Keep reading to find out because that is coming soon.
