Izzie
The surgery was dragging on. The only conversation that we have had so far was around an hour ago. Since then Alex refused to say anything to me."Alex I don't want to play games anymore why don't we just have a drink and talk. We could go to Joes bar. Like old times." I stated
He thought for a moment "I really should get home after work."
I laughed "Alex running home to a girl. Never thought I would see the day."
"I was by your side the entire time you were sick Iz. Never left. I even married you when you were sick. So why shouldn't I be there for Jo. You are too stuck in the past. This isn't years ago. This is now."
"Alex I really need to talk to you. About... something."
He paused and shook his head like he was shaking out a thought he didn't want to have. "Okay I will meet you there at 7. I'll just bring Jo some food and hope she sleeps."

The surgery went by flawlessly. I stayed after a bit to make sure the young boy woke up okay. He did, but I made the decision to keep him on the ventilator until he gets used to breathing without resistance from his concave chest.I check up on a few other patients before I left. I forgot to stop and get food for Jo and I only remembered when I finally reached the door to the loft. Not that it mattered much because I couldn't even find her under the mountain of blankets she had piled on top of her in the bed. It looked like she even had grabbed the old ones we keep in the chest. She was on her side facing the kitchen and when I walked around to see what she was doing, I saw she was just staring at the wall.
"Hey babe." She said sniffling a bit which was followed by a light cough
"What happened? You where pretty okay this morning. You look like crap." I laughed
"Thanks I'll remember that when you come down with this." She said. Her voice was a lot deeper then normal and it was also raspy. The flu was going around and so I assumed that's what she came down with. My best guess is she caught it from the patient who sneezed in her face last week. I only remember because she would not let it go. She complained about the common decency that people were lacking today. And how if she got sick she would be really mad.
"I ain't catching that." I said putting my shirt over my nose and mouth and stepping a couple feet back. "Are you hungry?"
"Yeah I texted you back. I really want sushi." She said shifting herself under the blankets.
" I was in surgery" I answered. I looked at the clock. 6:45. "I'm going to go run and get it. Take some Advil or something, germ ball."
"Okay." Came a muffled sound from under the blankets that she had just pulled over her head.
I arrived at Joe's bar a little after 7. I peered in the window to see Izzie check her watch, look around, and then take shot. She was sitting at a table and not at the bar which meant she really needed to talk.
I walked in and she flagged me down right away. She motioned for me to sit in the seat next to her but I chose the one across from her.
"What did you want to talk about." I say dryly
"I really want to talk about how things ended between us."
"Iz there is no point of drag-"
"I wanted you to come after me." She said interrupting me. "I wanted you to come after me and build a family but in a place that was comfortable for me." She paused "and you didn't"
"I didn't know that was what you wanted Izzie. I thought you wanted away from me. You ignored my calls and wouldn't let your family talk to me. How was I even suppose to find you?" I whispered loudly.
"I told Christina where I was going and I told her to tell you that if you wanted me then you would come get me." She paused for a moment. "Wait how did you not know about that? Christina told me she told you."
