After our counseling session, I'm pretty sure Amy thought we were going home. But, I happen to have something else up my sleeve.
"That was extremely helpful. I'm glad we did that."
"Me too."
"I feel better, emotionally wise." She holds her stomach and takes a deep breath.
"You okay?"
"Yeah. The sickness is not just for the morning."
Holy shit! I completely forgot she was pregnant! (Literally.lol)
"I'm sorry, I haven't been that attentive to you."
She scoffs, "It's not like I've given you much of a change to. That changes tonight. Our family is more important than past mistakes."
"I agree."
"Oh Liam, you missed the turn."
"Did I?"
She eyes me, "If we're not going home then where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."
"I hate surprises. It's a well-known fact."
"You're going to like this surprise. Trust me."
"Alright. As long as it involves soup and a massage."
"I can make that happen."
When we arrived at the hotel, she eyed me again.
"Nothing like that. They have masseuses here that come to your room, room service, and Netflix capabilities."
She's still eyeing me.
"And I've already reserved the room."
She finally smiles, "I'm just messing with you Booker. This was a great idea, thank you."
Oh, thank God.
I had asked that the masseuses be waiting in the room when we got there, I knew that'd be the first thing she'd want. But of course, something happened. Something unexpected, and it almost ruined everything. One of the masseuses we happened to recognize.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I—I work here Liam."
Amy scoffs, "No Mr. Booker now?"
"I don't work for him anymore, why would I still call him that?"
"Not like you called him that when you did... like you were supposed to. But then there were a lot of things you weren't supposed to do."
WHY?!?!!
Amy address the second masseuse who was staring at us completely dumbfounded. "Is there another masseuse working tonight?"
"No mam, I'm sorry. We're the only ones on duty tonight."
"We can just cancel—
"No. You take the massage, you probably need it more than I do."
"Please." Gia mumbled under her breathe.
"You're right Liam, being pregnant sure makes the muscles ache."
I'm pretty sure Amy doesn't really care if anyone knows she's pregnant. I mean, were not in high school anymore, but we haven't even told our parents or our friends yet. This was purely spite. We should probably do a dinner at home and tell everyone before they leave.
"You're pregnant?" The look on Gia's face, she was obviously hurt. We both had a hand in the affair, but I'm the adult and I should've known better.
"Well umm—congratulations then."
"You can keep that." Amy sneers.
She walks past us in a hurry leaving all her equipment behind.
"Okay..." The other masseuse started setting up his table. "Massage for one then?"
"I'll go get undressed." Amy disappeared into the bathroom as I made myself comfortable.
"Do you want me to go ahead and order anything?"
"See if they have chicken noodle, oh! And some apple or grape juice please?"
I smiled and picked up the phone.
"Can you believe Karma? I can't believe she's been lying to me this entire time."
Halfway through my spaghetti and 40 minutes of a movie later, we sat together on the bed in our complimentary robes.
"She could've told me! I would've understood. Or she could've mentioned something before I completely wasted my time and energy getting her into that stupid college. She's lucky she had a scholarship, because if her parents had to put money into—
"Amy?" I looked over at her pleadingly.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. I get you being upset with her. I would be too."
"And she's sleeping with Shane again. Wonder how well that'll turn out this time."
"What?!?" I almost choked.
"Did I forget to mention that?"
"When did that happen?!?"
"The night of the retched dinner party when his probably ex-boyfriend was over."
"Are you sure they had sex though?"
She flared her nostrils up at me, "Of course I'm sure. I'm surprised you didn't hear them. I knew something happened before I even walked in the door."
"Good thing Nov is a heavy sleeper."
We laughed at something we probably shouldn't have.
"That's highly inappropriate."
"Do you think we'd have to give her the sex talk?"
"She's five Liam!"
"Obviously not now, I mean when she's a bit older. Siri's pretty much taught her everything she knows now. No help from us."
"You're the one that thought giving a kid an iPhone AND an iPad was a splendid idea."
"She knows you're pregnant. Did you know that?"
She nods, "She's actually the one that told me. It's what made me go buy a test."
"She's way to smart for her age."
"What ever will we do?" She looks over at my half-eaten plate and the subject quickly changes.
"Do you want the rest of my spaghetti?"
"Is that even a question?" She takes it off my lap and starts chewing it down.
I look at her amazed, "We're going to be okay."
She stops eating and leans over to kiss me with spaghetti lips. "Yeah, I think we are."
stay tuned for a karma chapter...
