"Has she spoken to you yet?"

"No." I say with a grumpy face. "They got back this morning and she went straight to her room."

"At least her and Liam are mending things. The guest room he was sleeping in seemed noticeably empty."

"I just don't understand why she can't forgive me. I mean, we're all leaving tomorrow. Is she really not going to talk to me?"

"How about I talk to you right now?"

Shane and I turn to see Amy standing in the doorway of my room.

"Of course." Nervous, I stand and follow her out to the back porch as we sit on the steps.

"Amy, I'm really sorry again. I should've told you the moment decided nursing wasn't for me. It was right when I was thinking of dropping out, I got this amazing job. Not really my dream job, but it's a gateway and I really enjoy what I do—

"Karma. Pause for a minute, okay?"

I nod and let her speak.

You're right. You should've told me sooner. Finding out from someone that wasn't you hurt the most."

Shane? No, not Shane. Lauren. Had to be Lauren. She couldn't keep a secret if you paid her to.

"I am angry, but all my feeling and emotions can't be blamed on you right now."

"Liam?"

She shook her head, "No, it's the mood swings... caused by my pregnancy."

I shriek, "WHAT?!?"

She smiles and nods, "I'm not far along, just a few months but—

"I can't believe this!" I squeeze her but not too tight. "I can't believe no one's mentioned it."

"No one knows except Liam and Nov knows. Oh and Gia."

"The teenage home wrecker?"

"The same."

"How the hell does she—

"She just happened to work at the hotel Liam and I went to last night, and I threw it in her face."

"I'm proud."

"Liam and I plan on announcing it to everyone else at dinner tonight."

"I'm happy for you, thank you for telling me."

"Well, you would've found out at dinner."

"You know what I mean."

"You're welcome."

"So... does this mean I'm forgiven?"

She sighs, "I guess." Then follows it up with a smile.

We walk back inside, hand in hand.

Everyone gathered in the Booker dining hall that only gets used during special occasions and holidays. Everyone's parents attended, which means we have a lot of seats to fill.

Amy and Liam's personal chef, Claude, cooked a delicious rack of lamb with several sides. My mouth watered as I stared at it. I haven't eaten this good in months.

Liam hits his glass and stands as he clears his throat, "I would like to have everyone's attention please? I would like to make an announcement."

"Oh Liam can Hank and I go first?"

"You most certainly can not! This is our home and our dinner. Liam go."

"Well, sweetheart this is important."

"Of course, I mean it's not like we invited everyone over to reveal important news ourselves!"

This dinner... will end bad.

I sip on my wine and watch the two go at it.

"It's obvious you're pregnant again. Was that really news?"

Uh-oh.

Amy eyes grew big and I swear it looked like she wanted to physically attack her mother.

"And what? A new diamond on your finger doesn't indicated your engaged to be married yet again, only to be divorced YET AGAIN! Oh look, you can predicted the weather and I can predict the future!" Amy stood knocking her chair over and stalked out the room. I gulped down the rest of my drink and went after her.

"Why does Farrah do this to me? She always has to be the center of attention! If she knew I was pregnant and that that was what I was announcing, she couldn't let me just have it?!?"

"Amy—

"You know I actually thought our relationship was better since I had Nov. Guess I was wrong."

"I'm sure she wasn't intentionally trying to hurt you. I think she was just excited."

"How excited can you be getting married for the 6th time."

"Damn! Six times?!?"

Amy nods at Shane.

"Except this will be the first time she's marrying someone for the second time."

"I can't believe she blurted out my pregnancy like that. No one knew and she completely ruined that moment for me."

"I knew." Shane smiled.

"How?"

"This is a girl who drinks just enough to not be considered an alcoholic. Since I've been here I haven't seen one drink in her hand. I ask myself, "What reason would Amy have for not drinking? Not even socially." She's pregnant again."

"I'm finishing my dinner upstairs. Thanks for talking me down guys." She went into the hall and appeared again shortly heading upstairs with Liam at her heels.

"You think she'd be happy her parents are getting married again."

"She's probably happy about that deep down, she's just upset her mom told her news."

"I would be too."

"At least her mom's getting married and not having another kid. That would've really sent her over the edge."

"She likes being an only child. One of the reasons she didn't take to kindly to Lauren. That and Lauren was a bitch."

"Where is Lauren anyways?"

"She went back last night. Her lover/boss needed her."

Shane smirks, "She wasn't even a full day. I hope he actually marries her ass."

"I doubt it, but here's hoping." We clink our glasses together. At some point he refilled mine without me realizing.

"I don't think she hates being an only child as much as you think. I mean she's had you for years. You're like her sister."

I scoff, "How do you figure? Was I like her sister when she had a crush on me in high school? Or was I like her sister for that same period she had me doubting my sexuality? Oh I know, it was the time we got drunk and had sex." I quickly covered my mouth as Shane's eyes practically popped out.

"Back that all the way up. Exactly when and where did you and Amy have sex?!?"
