Dinner was awkward.

No one talked but the little rocket that is Nova. She could talk for days, you couldn't help but listen to her. She had the cutest kid voice my ears have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

"So, there's this boy in my class name Doug. He's a total jerk, but I kind of like him."

"Awe... the infamous Doug." Amy smiled.

"Doug the Thug. Has he stopped stealing kids lunch money?" Karma inquired.

"Does he still your money too?" Liam frowned.

Nova snickered, "Of course not, I'd kick his ass."

"Up top." Amy and Nova high five.

"Why do I know nothing about this Doug?"

"Why ask a question you already know the answer to?" Amy mumbled as she stuffed her face with a fork full of steak.

Liam looked visibly hurt. But he knows he deserves to be. I still can't believe he cheated on Amy...

"Amy, this food is delicious."

Amy smirked at Mike and started to respond, but I intervened.

"Wait, I kind of thought Karma cooked this?"

Amy eyed me, "We cooked together. How'd you know she helped? We were done by the time you guys came back."

I shrugged, "The mash potatoes, I guess. Tasted like hers, that's all."

"Because they are. Good sense of taste Shane."

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. Mike's real sensitive about Karma.

"Huh. I kind of thought the potatoes were a bit salty."

Everyone stopped at stared at Mike.

Mike why?!?!?!?!?!!!!

Nova stuffed her face with what she could and got up from the table. "Can I turn on a movie?"

"Sure. Make sure to shut your door hon." Amy never looked away from Mike who instantly had regret plastered all over his face. Nov grabbed a piece of cake off the counter before going upstairs. "The mash potatoes were a tad salty, were they?" Mike was silent. "But my steak, it was delicious, was it?" Silent again. "Liam?"

"Yes?" He jumped.

"Did you think the potatoes were a little salty?"

"Umm, no."

"Karma, did you like the way your potatoes tasted?"

"Of course, I did." Sounding just as petty as Amy.

She looked to me next, "Shane I would ask you, but you've clearly tasted Karma's potatoes several times already."

Dear God...

"Look, I didn't mean to offend anyone here. I was just speaking my mind."

"Really? Cause it seemed you only started disliking the food when you found out Karma helped make it Mike."

I felt the small need to defend my boyfriend, but knowing about the many fights we've gotten into about my past relationship with Karma, I knew Amy was right. He's had a problem with Karma ever since he found out about her. Even blamed his cheating on her. To makes things worse, I told everyone at this table about that. Hell, I even told Lauren. But Mike doesn't know that. And it's about to get a lot uglier at this table.

"Really Karma, Amy, I didn't mean any harm."

Karma and Amy both glared at him, while Liam tried to look everyone but.
