Prologue:

ASH'S POV-

It was a cold night.

Ash grunted as she tugged once more at the tight, iron collar wrapped around her neck.  It seemed to amuse Shredder...the idea of putting a collar on his... "pets"... That monster sickened her. She glanced over at her dear half-sister, Liz. Same batch of mutagen, same lizard DNA. They were two of one now, whether they liked it or not. To be honest, that was one thing that both of them did like. "Liz..." She whispered the Irish green mutant's name softly. A pause. Then, Liz rolled over, and she opened her eyes. Liz's eyes were completely black, each with a golden iris that shone bright against the black of her eyes. Long, shoulder-length, blond hair lay like a fine blanket of pale gold, across Liz's head. "Hm?" The moment Liz tried to sit up, Ash gripped her shoulders tightly and forced her to lay back down again. "Shhh..." She swept her rich amber gaze across the cramped, dusty shack that they were hiding in. The rich amber of her eyes seemed to glow like fire for a brief moment. Pointed elf-like ears twitched slightly. The weak light of New York city that filtered in through small gaps in the shed's planks cast a silver light on her own, shoulder-length, brown hair.

Complete with lush pink lips, long slender fingers, and almond-shaped eyes, the two mutants should have been a picture of beauty. But the effect of their elegant features was definitely affected by the tight iron collars that they wore. Had the collars been any tighter, and they would have cut off the blood circulation in their necks. Ash sat with one leg folded beneath her, and the other was bent, as she was crouching slightly on her left leg, almost as if she were preparing to leap into action. In her hands, she gripped a white bow. One gray arrow lay loosely notched in it. On her back was a black quiver filled with gray arrows. Liz shivered. The cold was obviously affecting her. This was actually quite ironic, given that Liz was the one wearing the black lab coat trimmed with dark gray. Ash had nothing but a black shirt that revealed the dusty gold chest plates that covered her stomach, and the so-called sleeves of which, were practically at her shoulders. She wore long black...socks? That if one were to be honest-looked a tad...seductive... And she had black short-shorts..She didn't choose such revealing clothing, Shredder had. Liz lay clutching her long Japanese blade to her chest. A small portion of the deadly blade was unsheathed. Simple precaution's really. The two had learned a long time ago not to sleep without one eye open...or a blade under the pillow... Not that they had ever been given the, "luxury," of pillows.

New York was about as silent as it could ever get at night. The sounds of aggressive drivers abusing the horns of their unfortunate cars below them in the streets were quite loud. And for two mutants with sensitive ears, it was painfully loud. Ash heaved a heavy sigh. 'Might as well get moving...' Ash stood carefully, not wanting to suffer further from the cramps in her poor right leg."I see no point in trying to sleep. We should keep moving... Liz?" A grunt. Then Liz sloooowly sat up. She blinked a few times. "M'kay... Ash, I'm hungry..again.." Ash paused. With a quick glance towards the younger female, Ash spoke quickly, and quietly.  "I know, I know... Maybe we can snatch something later, but for now," here she sighed again,"we'll...just have to make do... like always." Liz bit her lip, but held in her whines. Her stomach growled. Ash looked back at her once more, before moving forward, and carefully nudging aside a loose plank. Light flood into their cramped hiding place. The mutants both winced in unison. "Quickly." "I know! I'm coming!" "Well then hurry faster! We don't know how much ground that they could have covered by now!" "....I know...." 'Oh really?" "YES. I do." "Then use the long legs of yours, and get you long tail over here!" "....Jerk.." "I heard that." "Good to know that your hearing isn't impaired, Ash."
