Leighton felt soft kisses on her neck and she knew it was Eli. It was her morning wakeup call and it was far better than a screeching and annoying alarm.
“Not yet I need more sleep,” Leighton kept her eyes shut content on getting a few more hours before she faced the day, and her classes.
“Come on you’ll be late for my class,” Elijah whispered in her ear and she held back the giggle as his breath tickled against the cartilage in her ear.
Leighton groaned in annoyance before she opened her eyes and looked at Elijah giving him her best puppy dog eyes.
“So I’ll be late it wouldn’t kill you to be late either,” Leighton smirked suggestively.
Elijah was lying on his side and staring into her glowing brown eyes, he could easily spend the day in bed with Leighton, and he wanted nothing more than to be with her. Which scared him since he knew Leighton loved him back but there was still the small chance that Klaus could get the upper hand, the small chance that Klaus would take her away from him.
“You know I can’t,” Elijah replied regretfully and Leighton frowned in response.
“Come on call in a sickie and spend the day with me. We can order takeout food and watch movies as well as other things,” Leighton smirked as she ran her hand up his bare torso.
“We can always do that tonight?” Elijah suggested.
“Can’t I’m busy tonight.”
“You are?” Elijah asked.
“Yeah, I have a date with you,” Leighton smirked and laughed before Elijah pounced on her and pressed his lips against hers.
He still tasted like peppermint as Leighton’s tongue explored his mouth and wrapped her legs around him.
“It’s my turn to pick the movies,” Leighton reminded him as his lips separated from hers and moved down her jaw and throat.
“If you pick the notebook I may have to kill myself,” Elijah joked as his lips hovered just inches from hers.
“Fine than no notebook,” Leighton agreed before their lips clashed together again.

“Are you sure Leighton will be here? We’ve been waiting for over an hour?” Elena asked Stefan. They were sitting in Damon’s Porshe across the road from the Coffee Nut café; Leighton’s favourite hangout spot.
“Yes I’m sure.” Stefan replied from the back seat. He had watched Leighton for days. He knew her routine and that her favourite beverage was the orange coloured iced coffee which she always followed with an orange and poppy seed muffin.
“How can you be sure that Caroline wasn’t lying?” Elena asked. She didn’t trust Caroline anymore not even in the slightest.
Stefan had called Caroline a couple of hours ago, and she said she was in Rio with Klaus but Stefan couldn’t ask too many questions; he knew Klaus would become suspicious.
“I know you hate Caroline but she is still the same person who just happened to make a terrible choice,” Stefan replied and Elena rolled her eyes in response. Caroline was one of the last people she wanted to talk about along with her boyfriend Klaus although talking about Klaus was inevitable.
“Please don’t Stefan,” Elena asked as she ran her hand through her straight brown hair.
“Elena just-” Stefan started.
“She said no Stefan just drop it,” Damon intervened and Stefan sighed in annoyance.
“Fine but forever is a long time to hold a grudge Elena,” Stefan replied matter-of-factly before he sat back in his seat and crossed his arms over his chest.
Where the hell are you Leighton? Stefan wondered silently; part of him was starting to worry. Leighton always had a snack in between classes on Monday’s.
He was starting to think his call to Caroline had made Klaus suspicious; that he had done irreparable damage. He would never forgive himself if he was the reason for Klaus figuring out Leighton’s existence.
“There she is,” Elena watched as Leighton entered the cafe and a feeling of dread swept through her.
Elena had no idea what to say to Leighton or how to explain the horrible situation. What if Leighton didn’t believe her?
“I will never get used to it,” Stefan mused out loud. Leighton looked exactly like Elena with the only difference being the hair. Elena’s was naturally straight whereas Leighton’s was thick and wavy.
“All we need is Katherine and then we have the full set,” Damon smirked. It was his attempt at trying to lighten the mood and Elena couldn’t help but role her eyes and chuckle slightly.
“Finally a smile,” Damon grinned and grabbed Elena’s hand.
Stefan shifted uncomfortably in the back seat and focussed on Leighton instead. Halley and Jen started the conversation by questioning Leighton’s night with Eli.
“You know Halley totally made out with someone last night,” Stefan could practically hear Jen smirking as she talked.
“Yeah I saw,” Leighton didn’t sound impressed.
“Was he a good kisser?” Jen asked.
“Yeah although I thought he was into you Leighton.”
“Well he’s a total creep and you can do better," Leighton replied and Stefan frowned. He was going to have to fix that if they were to have any chance of being together but Stefan was confident he could fix the damage; maybe with some backstage passes to her favourite rock band Torn.
“A hot creep,” Jen laughed.
“Now we wait,” Elena said as she held Damon’s hand in hers and leaned back in her seat.
Leighton headed out of the cafe and across the road to her purple solar powered car although as she unlocked the door her gaze fell on Stefan’s reflection in her car window.
“What the hell?” Leighton asked as she spun around to face Stefan. The only reason she remembered his name was because he had acted like a major ass at the underage club.
His hand quickly covered her mouth and before she could register what was happening Stefan had Leighton in the backseat of the black Porshe.
“How the hell did you move so quickly? And why am I here? What do you want from me?” Leighton asked Stefan. She didn’t even realise that Elena and Damon were sitting in the front of the car.
“I’m not going to hurt you Leighton,” Stefan replied although Leighton ignored him and tried to escape, but Stefan quickly grabbed her arm and gently yanked her away from the door handle.
“We want to help you,” Elena twisted in her seat and took a look at Leighton. It was eerie seeing Leighton up close.
“Who the hell are you? And why do you look like me?” Leighton asked as her eyes washed over Elena. It was like Leighton was looking into a mirror, and her jaw dropped in shock.
“I’m Elena and you’re my doppelganger. Your life is in danger,” Elena started slowly. There was so much to tell Leighton that Elena didn’t know where to start or if Leighton would even believe her.
“Doppelganger? Life in danger? So I’m a paranormal double of you?” Leighton asked in disbelief. She was convinced it was a hallucination and that someone had slipped something into her iced coffee.
“It’s simple really, the oldest vampire in history needs your blood to make his vampire- werewolf hybrid army,” Damon replied as he swivelled in the driver’s seat and faced Leighton.
“Vampire? Wow I’m losing my mind. I’m going to kill Jen when I find out what she slipped into my drink.” Leighton sighed in frustration.
“You’re not losing your mind Leighton vampires are real,” Stefan spoke and Leighton looked at him with a raised eyebrow as she shifted as far away from him as possible.
“No they’re not,” Leighton disagreed.
“Yes they are,” Damon replied as his eyes shifted. The whites of his eyes turned red and there were visible veins that ran from under his eyes.
Leighton gasped as she noticed Damon’s eyes and couldn’t look away as his fangs popped out next.
“You’re not tripping out okay Leighton please I’m sorry about how weird I acted last night, but your life is in danger. If he finds you he will drain you dry,” Stefan moved closer to Leighton who squished herself up against the door. She wanted to try and escape again but she knew Stefan was far to fast.
“We want to help you,” Elena spoke next.
“Why do you want to help me? You don’t even know me,” Leighton asked.
“Because I’ve been through it and now that I’m a vampire my blood is no use to him which means if he finds out you exist than he will come after you; we want to protect you,” Elena explained.
“You’re safe with us,” Stefan grabbed Leighton’s hand and she didn’t pull away like he expected; she was too stunned to move and part of her was still hesitant to believe it all.
Leighton’s brain was telling her that vampires couldn’t exist, and that there was no way she was a supernatural double but Elena was staring right at her and they looked exactly alike, and then there was the vampire who was still barring his fangs.
“So what now? You follow me around until the day I die?” Leighton asked as she looked down at Stefan’s hand that was still clutching hers.
“Something like that; I can’t let him ruin another person’s life,” Elena smiled and Leighton believed her but there was still a small part of Leighton that hoped none of this was real.
“I can’t ask you to do that,” Leighton finally grabbed her hand back from Stefan’s grasp.
“Too bad because we’re not going anywhere,” Elena gave Leighton a reassuring smile.
“I need to go. I need to talk to Eli. He needs to know that if he stays with me than his life is in danger,” Leighton replied. She had no idea how to tell Eli the news. She was certain he would call her crazy and tell her it was all in her head. Leighton didn’t want to lose Eli but she had to tell him.
“Eli isn’t who you think he is-” Stefan started.
“Stefan don’t; let him talk to her.” Elena interrupted.
“You know him?” Leighton asked confused.
“You need to talk to him,” Elena forced a smile.
Leighton’s head was still reeling from the recent news that vampires existed, that she was a doppelganger, and that the oldest vampire of all time wanted her blood and then she finds out that Eli knows about some of it.
“Will you fill me in later; if this is all real I mean,” Leighton needed to know more if her life was in danger.
“Yeah,” Elena nodded.
“Do you want me to drive you?” Stefan asked.
“No I’ll be fine,” Leighton replied although she was anything but fine. Her mind and body seemed to be in shock as she got out of the black Porshe and got into her small purple car.
It was time to find Eli; Leighton had to know what he knee.
