So, I've been thinking about this a lot, lately.

As I watch this show, something that I always notice sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

The time slices.

Some of the characters use words such as tick, varga, dobash, quintant...

But, wait a minute...

Quintant...

Where have I heard that before?

Could it be...

Quintessence ?

The most powerful source of energy in the galaxy?

I became curious, so I decided to dig a little deeper.

I went to the glossary on Voltron's Wiki page, and found the definition of a "quintant"; A time slice comparable to a "day".

And what do us humans call the sun's rays which shine during the day?

Daylight.

In this case, the Alteans and Galra would say "quintantlight".

Hmm...

That sounds a little strange, right?

Maybe...just maybe...they could have used a different word...

Quintessence.

YES!!!! The energy contracted, that is called Quintessence, is actually a very VERY powerful form of LIGHT!!!!!
