Recap:

I looked up at Adam awaiting his response.

"Well you were right when you said you couldn't sing, but you can play and write really well".

"Thanks" I whispered, blushing. I started to slightly tune out whatever Adam had started talking about. That is until I felt something foreign against my lips. I looked I front of me with widened eyes. Adam Levine was kissing me.

Chapter Seven

I hesitated for a moment before slowly kissing back, having no idea what to do, just copying Adam's movements. A knock on the door was the one thing that quickly broke us apart. I took a few moments to compose myself before saying,"Come in".

Daddy walked in, clueless to what had just occurred. "Mckenzie, do you think we could talk about what happened?".

"I really don't think that's the best idea, Blake".

"Did you just call me, Blake?".

"Yes she did", Adam defended, "I think it would be best if you gave her some space to calm down and take all of this in. I got it". Blake shook his head and walked out the door with one glance back at me. Adam and I sat awkwardly beside each other, neither of us trusting our voices to be able to say what was needed. Finally snapping out of the daze-like state we found ourselves in, Adam, cleared his throat and whispered, "I just kissed you. I really just kissed you".

"And I liked it. I really liked it", I mumbled back.

Adam turned his head, actually looking at me for the very first time. "Mckenzie... Look I really do like you, but...".

"You're twenty years older than me and my father would kill you if he ever found out. He would probably completely overreact".

"I just want what's best for you and it's not me. It's another fifteen year old that can easily meet your dad and not get his throat ripped out".

"I don't want that. I want you. The guy who bleached his hair last season. The guy that is fine with walking around naked all the time. The guy who has ADHD. The guy who does yoga because he broke his sternum lifting weights. I want the guy who is funny and sensitive. I only want you, Adam, you".

"It's illegal, Mckenzie!".

"So was Blake and Kaynette's relationship. I mean Mom was pregnant when she was seventeen. Can't we just give it a try?".

"Fine, we can give it a try. We can talk about this more later, but right now it's obvious that you're tired and in need of rest".

"Sing to me?".

Adam took the guitar out of my hand and said,"Sure".

Beauty queen of only eighteen

She had some trouble with herself

He was always there to help her

She always belonged to someone else

I drove for miles and miles

And wound up at your door

I've had you so many times

But somehow, I want more

I don't mind spending every day

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Look for the girl with the broken smile

Ask her if she wants to stay a while

And she will be loved

She will be loved

Tap on my window, knock on my door

I want to make you feel beautiful

I know I tend to get so insecure

It doesn't matter anymore

It's not always rainbows and butterflies

It's compromise that moves us along

My heart is full and my door's always open

You come any time you want

I don't mind spending every day

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Look for the girl with the broken smile

Ask her if she wants to stay a while

And she will be loved

She will be loved

I know where you hide

Alone in your car

Know all of the things that make you who you are

I know that goodbye means nothing at all

Cause it makes me catch her every time she falls

Tap on my window, knock on my door

I want to make you feel beautiful

I don't mind spending every day

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Look for the girl with the broken smile

Ask her if she wants to stay a while

And she will be loved

She will be loved

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

Yeah

I don't mind spending every day

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Try so hard to say goodbye
