"I'm going out tonight with my friends." I announced to my family as we ate breakfast

"So when are we going to meet your boyfriend? Like have him over for dinner." My Dad asked

I looked him in the eye, "He's not my boyfriend."

"Sure." Holland said sarcastically with a grin

Oh, don't even get me started on Holland's love life.

"Shut up." I mouthed to my sister

"Holland, tell me what he's like." My Dad persisted

"He's maybe a little under six foot, brown hair, brown eyes, -" Holland spoke

"Does he play football?" My Dad interrupted

I shook my head, "No, but Holland's boyfriend does."

Holland's jaw dropped, "You said you weren't gonna tell."

I got up, "You were asking for it."

"This is why the twins tend to my favorite kids." My mom joked

I rolled my eyes, "She was asking for it."

"Well okay then, tell your boy space friend over for dinner Saturday night." My Dad said looking me in the eye

"What about Holland's boy space friend?" I questioned him

"We met him before homecoming, besides Grier you've been spending a lot of time with this boy and we just want to meet him, it's literally not that big of a deal." My mom justified

I groaned, "If it was a girl you wouldn't care."

"Ok well you're not gay so and he kissed your cheek." Holland put in

"He what?" My mom exclaimed

"It wasn't like that, but I don't want him to come over for dinner because it is a big deal." I added

Holland frowned, "Did you not stay over at his house for dinner before?"

"Yeah, but that wasn't my purpose for going over there it just happened." I informed her

"Why is it a big deal?" My Dad asked as I put my school shoes on

"Because that means that things are getting serious once you think someone is good enough to be around your parents and family." I explained myself

My mom raised an eyebrow, "You don't like him?"

"I mean yeah, but I don't know if it's like boyfriend/girlfriend type of like yet or he's just the friend I needed all my life like." I spoke

"Sure." Holland said grabbing her bookbag

"I'll be in the car." She added

I picked up my things, "Well I gotta go."

"Grier, just invite him over for dinner stop overthinking stuff. We'll be nice." My mom concluded

I nodded, "Okay, but if he never talks to me again -"

"He's put up with you for this long." My dad grinned

I scoffed, "Oh my gosh, I'm the nicest person ever."

"Have a good day sweetie." He waved as I walked out the door

I drove Holland and me to school and right before first period I hunted Everett Griffin down.

"Hey." I greeted him out of breath at his locker

"Are you okay?" He asked confused

Not really.
