Human But Vampire

Part Six

Two hours later
I sit here wishing to be back human. My thirst is causing me to be in pain. I am able to hide it but not sure how much longer I can. Sadly Mika hasn't returned either. "Mika!" Shinoa says worried. I look up to see him walking in. He looks to be hurt. My eyes widen and I jump up. I run to him as does the others. "Mika what happened?" I ask. "Just different tests. Don't worry I'm fine." He says. We all go over to where we have been sleeping and sit down. He goes into the pouch but it is empty. "Damn it." He says. I move over beside him and pull my sleeve up. "Here." I say. He looks at me and shakes his head. "No Kasumi. I don't want to hurt you." He says. "But Mika you need it." I say. He looks away. "I will be fine." He says. "Mika we both know that is not true. You will be in pain if you don't." I say. He sighs. "But Kasumi." He says. "Mika please. I don't want you to be hurting." I say. He drops his head. "She is right Mika. You need blood. Have mine though. That way Kasumi isn't hurt." Yuu says. Mika shakes his head. "No Yuu. I won't do that. I will lose the last bit of human in me." He says. He looks over at me and looks worried. "Are you sure Kasumi?" He asks. I nod. He hesitately grabs my arm and bites down. It hurts and I wince. I look away as he drinks. After he is done he sighs. "I'm sorry that it hurt." He says. "It will be okay. After all I am used to it. Krul's bite hurts a lot worse." I say as I rub my neck. He frowns. "I wish I could have protected you from her." He says. I smile sadly and nudge against him. "It is okay Mika." I say. He sighs. "All that matters is we are free now. Krul is dead and Ferid as well. The progenitors that came with us are dead as well." I say. "You know there was only ten progenitors with us. There is still nine left." He says. "Don't worry the Moon Demon Company and Imperial Demon Army will take care of them." Guren says walking in. We all look up at him. "It is good to see you are okay Mika." He says. "Thank you." Mika says. He walks over and looks down at me. "You both need blood to survive correct?" He asks. This causes me to look down. "Correct." I say. "You have decided to join us in this war right?" He asks. "Definitely." Mika says. He nods. "I will offer up my blood to you to keep you alive." He says. My eyes widen. Mika stands up and I see his eyes are narrow. "We do not accept. We do not drink human blood. That is one reason Krul was always mad at us." He says. "If you don't accept it can hurt you. Mika I am doing this because Yuu is our family. He is also your family. That makes you apart of our family. Kasumi as well." He says. I look at him shocked. "Guren we can't. If we did it would turn us into full vampires. There would be no way to reverse this then." He says. I stand up and grab Mika's arm. "Mika it can't be reversed right now either. Krul told me it is not reversible. Once a Progenitor changes a human into a vampire they can't be changed back. It is because progenitor's blood is stronger then other vampires." I say. He grits his teeth. "Damn it Krul." He growls. He balls his fist and grits his teeth. "Mika, Kasumi please accept this." Guren says. I look down. "I can't Guren. I don't want to be a full vampire." I say. He lifts my head. "Kasumi just because you are a vampire now means nothing. You are still you. No matter if you are part vampire or full vampire you are still going to be accepted by us. You have proven your loyalty to us." He says. Tears fill my eyes. "But Guren I am useless. I can't even defend myself." I say. He gives me a smile. "I will teach you." He says. "Guren!" Yuu says. "Shut it Yuu." He says. Guren wipes the tears from my cheeks. "What do you say?" He asks. I nod slightly. "Okay. I will accept your offer to teach me to defend myself." I say. "And my blood?" He asks. I look down. "I can't." I say. He sighs. The smell of blood fills my nose and I look up. He has a cut on his arm now and is holding it to me. "Go on." He says. I take a step backwards. I struggle to fight the need to drink. My mouth waters and I feel my thirst trying to take over. "I.I can't." I say. "It is okay. I know you are thirsty. You haven't had any today and it is already late in the day." He says. I ball my fist up and feel myself giving in. "Please I don't want to." I say. "It is okay Kasumi. Go ahead. We will still be as your friend, as your family." He says. My eyes widen. "M.my family?" I say. "Yes. Your family." He says. He steps towards me and lifts my head. "Go on Kasumi. You need it." He says. I try to resist it but I can't. The smell of his blood causes me to give in and I end up biting his arm. As I drink my thirst slowly dies down. I feel the last bit of the human part of me disappear. It hurts some but I ignore it. I stop drinking and let his arm go. "See you feel better now don't you?" He asks. I don't say anything and keep my head down. I can't believe I gave in. He rubs my head and I look up at him. He is smiling and looks so calm. "I'm sorry." I say. "Don't be." He says. Someone pats my back and I look to see Shinoa. "How do you feel?" She asks. "I feel different. I feel like I am stronger then before and then their is a feeling I don't quite understand." I say. She smiles. "Well don't worry about that feeling. All that matters is that you are okay." She says. I look down. "Even though I am fully vampire now?" I ask. "Yes. Like Guren said we are still your family." She says. I look at her and she smiles. Are they really my family? Do I finally have a family? Yeah I have had Mika for the past four years, but it has just been us two. I look around at the others and they are smiling as well. Well except Kimizuki. "Your eyes are different." Yuu says. "It is because she is a full vampire now." Mika says. "What color are they?" I ask. "A milky blue now." Shinoa says. My eyes where a dark blue, green color. "Well are you all rested?" Guren asks. "Yes." Everyone says. "Good. We are heading back to the city." He says. "What about the other progenitors?" I ask. "We will have to wait to take them down. Our forces are not in the shape to fight right now." He says. I nod and he leads us out. His squad was in here to so they know. Mika comes to my side and I look down embarrassed. "It is okay Kasumi. I don't see you any differently now. You are still my sister." He says. I look up at him and smile. "Thanks Mika." I say. He smiles and he rubs my head. "Mika, Kasumi you will ride with Shinoa's squad. My squad will be in another Jeep in front of you. Kureto has already alerted them about you two being with us so you will not be attacked when we get there." Guren says. "Wait are you sure they will be safe Guren?" Yuu asks. "Absolutely." He says. Yuu nods and we get to the Jeeps. I have not actually rode in one since being taken four years ago. We always flew in the planes. As we leave the airport I relax. I sit here not minding the wind. My eyes are closed and I am relaxed. As we ride it is silent. Sadly images from being back in the vampire city goes through my head. I try to ignore them but I can't. They fill my head and torture me. All the memories causing me to feel hurt. I'm not to sure how long we ride. I eventually open my eyes and just stare at the dark blue sky. I see a city ahead and tense up. "Don't worry it is okay." Shinoa says. I look over at her. "But I am a vampire. They will not like that." I say. She rubs my shoulder. "Don't worry about it. We are here and so is Guren's squad." She says. I nod and relax a little. "I'm still scared Shinoa. I've only known being trapped at Krul or Ferid's sides. I'm not sure if I will be able to deal with this." I say. "It will be okay." She says. I look down and rub my arm. "Okay." I say. We go through a gate and several soldiers come. As we pull to a stop a group walks over. We go over to Guren and his squad. "Lieutenant Colonel where is the other squads?" One guy asks. "They are on their way. Only some didn't make it. Several brave and courageous soldiers died on the battle field." Guren says. They all look upset. "Why save them two lieutenant colonel? They are vampires." A man asks. "They are not a threat. You can trust me." Guren says. I hear another Jeep and soon the guy that tested Mika walks over. "Lieutenant General!" The guy says bowing. "Don't you worry. I have tested them and they are not a threat. They are on our side." He says. The guy nods. "Yes sir." He says. "Guren come." The man says. Guren sighs and rubs his head. "Here we go again." He says. He follows the man and I get worried. "Will Guren be okay?" I ask. "Yeah don't worry. Kureto will just yell at him and tell him to stop being an idiot." Shinoa says. "You should show the Lieutenant General more respect." A blonde haired woman warns. "Aoi are you forgetting she is a member of the Hīragi family?" A guy asks. The blonde haired woman looks worried. "Oh yeah, crap." She says. "Don't worry I will forgive it." Shinoa says. She has a sassy tone to her voice. The woman walks away and Shinoa makes an amused sound. "You long being in the Hīragi family don't you?" Mitsuba says. "Well considering that don't really notice I am there." Shinoa says. I am confused and look at them. "What's the Hīragi family?" I ask. "Oh the Hīragi family controls the entire Japanese Imperial Demon Army. They are even above Guren." Kimizuki says. "And Mitsuba is a member of the prodigious families that serves the Hīragi family." Yuu says. Mitsuba smiles proudly. "That's right. We are both practically royal." She says. My face drops and I look over at her. I am not all to sure what to say on that. "You okay?" Yoichi asks. "Yes I am okay." I say. He looks worried so I give him a smile. Suddenly a group of soldiers comes over. "Vampires are cruel, heartless creatures and don't deserve to be freely to move around here." One of them says. I tense up and pain fills my face. I look down sadly and grit my teeth. "That was uncalled for. Kasumi and Mika are on our side. They are not heartless or cruel." Shinoa says. "But sergeant Shinoa." He says. She narrows her eyes. "Mika not only is on our side but killed the Queen who ruled the vampires. They are not our enemies." She says. I look at her shocked by her words. She is sticking up for us again. The guy looks at Mika. "Wait you killed the vampire Queen?" He asks. "Yes. She was hurting Kasumi and I was tired of it." He says. "Why didn't she defend herself?" He asks. "She doesn't even have a weapon. Bet she can't even fight." Another says. I grit my teeth and look down embarrassed. "Just because she can't fight means nothing. Kasumi is a great person and cares about others more then anyone else." Mika says. "Mika." I say looking up. He looks at me and smiles. "What it is true. You care about others more then yourself." He says. I feel my face heat up some. He rubs my head and I push his hand away. He smiles and I relax. He is always so nice to me. I'm glad he is here and that we are free. "So are you two siblings?" The guy asks. "Sort of. Kasumi never had a family and we became like family when the vampires took her." Mika says. The guy looks confused. Mika goes on to tell how we were both humans but turned into vampires. He leaves out the parts about his family being murdered and that I was abused by the ones who took care of me. The guy seems more relaxed now and not so hateful. They all look more relaxed and not so hateful anymore. "I can't believe a simple Noble killed the Queen of the vampires." One of them says. "Well Guren had her distracted and so I took the opportunity and quickly attacked her. Guren killed one of the other Progenitors that was there. That is why she was distracted." Mika says. One of them walks over and I step backwards. He holds a hand out to Mika. "You seem like a good person." He says. Mika looks shocked but shakes his hand. "Welcome to the human world." He says. Mika smiles. "A lot better then the vampire city." He says. I slowly relax seeming them getting along. Hopefully he isn't going to try to put Mika. If he does I won't be of any help.
