If the events from ten minutes ago weren't enough to startle her then perhaps being picked up and placed on the back of a motorbike was. It was technically Hibari's fault her legs gave in but did he have to make her heart give in as well? To be honest, she hadn't a clue what was going on until the engine started and a helmet was forced onto her head. Then the flash of life passing through her eyes when he accelerated all of a sudden.
She wanted to ask where they were going, why, and what about school - but found her voice had escaped her for the first portion of the journey.
Only during the pitstop halfway (she guessed) did Kouka actually question everything. While enjoying a sandwich Hibari bought for her because she had no money. Wasn't her fault she was suddenly abducted without her bookbag.
"Um... Hibari-san?" Said bboy looked up up her with chopsticks in his mouth, eating his purchased meal - an actual meal unlike Kouka's measly sandwich. "May I ask where you're taking me?"
While her formal language was unnecessary and Hibari would rather she spoke casually to him, he put his chopsticks down for a moment while he thought. What was this other than kidnapping?
"Field trip to Shizuoka." Was his vague reply. She spurred him to continue with an expectant look, which worked eventually. "Atami."
Was Atami field trip material? Holiday material sure but...
She hummed while thinking of her next question, making sure to keep an eye on her sandwich so it doesn't run away. "Why...?" It was the best she could come up with.
Hibari continued to eat for a second before again dropping his chopsticks next to the now empty bowls and plates. "Why?" Kouka nodded. "I like the ryokan there. And this way I won't get disturbed by groups of herbivores..." Seems he still held a grudge again Tsuna.
"Ryokan?" She echoed surprised, earning some confusion but a nod nonetheless. Her grin exploded into utter glee, "Really!? I've never stayed in one before!" Kouka laughed, suddenly growing exponentially more excited. School completely left her mind.
"Hm? Why's that?"
"Why...?" She trailed, thinking for a moment, "I have a single mother who's been taking care of my younger brother and I for as long as I remember..." She smiled nostalgically lovingly, "We never had a lot of money so holidays never really occurred for us." Although the notion was perhaps upsetting, Kouka seemed to be at bliss and ease about it. Her childhood was one full of happiness and love after all.
Hibari smiled while watching her expressions change ever so slightly every second. From joy to reminiscing to laughter and to delight, every minute change - he caught all of them.
"I'd like to meet the woman who raised you..." He mused staring at Kouka's amusing form as her expression took on shock. He was thinking that she must be someone of unparallelled beauty to have given birth to someone like Kouka; both inside and out.
A meek laugh escaped her as she smiled, nodding, "I'm sure she'd like that."
After paying for fuel and having more than a couple heart attacks, the two made it somewhat safe and sound to the building Kusakabe had so kindly rented out for them earlier. Obviously renting the whole thing out was impossible since the place still had normal customers to tend to, so he just decreased the amounts of people able to stay. Thank God there weren't many previous bookings either.
The ryokan was extravagant already from the outside, hidden in the mountains and shaded by trees - the ambience was stunning. The small lamps just outside made the front courtyard glow a dim but lovely orange. There were three women and a man stood at the entrance bowing to the two of them, the man holding a strained smile.
Kouka guessed Hibari had visited before and perhaps broke something or terrified the man somehow.
"Hibari-sama! Welcome to our little inn, I hope you'll enjoy your stay! If there is anything you need please do not hesitate to ask. Oh, because of the short notice of your visit, your room is still being prepared - it won't take more than another ten minutes." The man, who Kouka suspected was potentially the manager, greeted with another exaggerated bow.
"Please follow us to your room," Two of the female hands offered, turning and leading the two down long quaint corridors. Unsurprisingly, they got the biggest room.
Seeing a few women inside doing some cleaning and arranging furniture, Kouka thanked the ladies for their work and went on to talk with the escorts about the resort facilities and the areas around the place. Hibari hung back and occasionally chimed in, only really listening to tidbits.
Once the cleaning had reached its end, Hibari was handed a key and within seconds all of the staff had evacuated the area. Sharing a look for a moment, he and Kouka wandered inside - Hibari making a beeline for the chairs in the corner while Kouka made for the terrace.
Outside was gleaming with other worldly spirit, it was as if they'd walked into another dimension. The rocks were shining with moisture and the plants glared with bright colour petals and explosively swell scents. The stone path seemed to lead to supposedly their outdoor bath, sheltered under a wooden and bamboo crafted cover. Perhaps this was an expensive room as the garden was a little more than necessary. The private bath did look impressive though, it made her curious as to what the actual baths themselves looked like. Was it inside or outside?
It'd be strange if it wasn't a natural hot spring considering this ryokan's placement.Ryokans and onsens were officially her favourite places. And she hasn't even been in a hot spring yet.
Trodding around to the window wherein the view displayed the small side room Hibari was sat in, she managed to slide open the rounded window and peeked in with a bright smile. Feeling her presence behind him, Hibari turned around and almost smiled himself at the sight of her unhidden excitement and elation.
"Thank you for bringing me here!" She uttered in a hushed tone, displaying her utmost gratefulness and pleasure. Whereas Hibari was finding her happiness and even just her exquisite expressions more than a gift. Forget the ryokan, he was more interested in her.
"It's getting late, you don't want to see the onsen?" He smirked at the confusion and surprise on her face; she hadn't realised how much time had passed, it was almost the end of school when they left.
Hurriedly shuffling back inside, Hibari was already up and collecting their complementary yukata. His being plain black while hers was a light purple with a floral design; she wouldn't put it past Hibari to force them into getting him a plain one. She grabbed her towels with a wide grin, her excitement clearly oozing out every pore of her body.
With his towels under one arm, he held out his hand towards her, "Follow me." Kouka took his hand with more fluster than reluctance; Hibari was the one that had visited here before so it's best to not get lost.
Two children were racing down the hall when they spotted the young couple, this earned muffled laughter, cheeky grins, and wolf whistling. It embarrassed Kouka to no end while a single scowl from Hibari scared them away. Rather, they found it funny and ran off to play some more. Not forgetting to sing a horrible song about seeing a pair of 'lovers' and making Kouka more anxious than she needed to be.It was her first 'boyfriend' after all.
Earlier she'd learnt from the staff that there were gender separated outdoor baths and indoor. Obviously she wanted to try the outdoor baths first.
And they did not disappoint.
She was provided underwear as well, the sizings were a little off but she couldn't complain.
