Maybe when I put a bucket of paint in each room and an older kid in each group and told everyone to get painting, I didn't think it through. Some of the older kids did their jobs, others... not so much. So that's how all the hallways were grey, with colorful splatters and paintings every so often, and all the rooms were different colors.

I entered each room and laughed at almost every one. Some were mostly one color with random words or colors in random places. Some were unevenly done and had paint dripping down the walls. Some were just random blotches of different color, and you could still see the original wall.

But to see the ecstatic looks on everyone's faces as they there paint at each other and laughed at everything made it so much better.

"Okay everyone lets stay on on the ground level for now until the paint dries," I called out and instantly heard footsteps running at me. I waited at the bottom of the stairs until everyone was down and watched as they made a line for the bathroom. "Half of you go use the upstairs one," I told them and immediately half of the kids ran upstairs to use the other bathroom.

Alex walked past me to the kitchen, where I followed him. He started taking out supplies to make something. "You gonna help me, or what?" He questions with a smirk turning looking up and at me. I just laugh and start to help him prepare.

Soon enough everyone is saying goodnights and heading back to their rooms, and you can hear an occasional laugh, from when someone who had forgotten about the new paint walks into their room.

Once everyone was in their rooms I got ready for bed. I tried to think of the beach or the brief time I spent in Metropolis, so maybe I could get some nice sleep tonight.

+Some Time Later+

When I heard crying I shot out of bed and ran to where the sound came from. I heard more screams and sobs and ran down the hallway until I found a room with an open door. I ran into the room and saw Mrs. Caster kicking Sam on the floor. Immediately I ran over and picked him up and held him to my chest, turning my back to the old hag, and shielding Sam. He dried into my chest.

"YOU BITCH! Get out of here!" When I didn't listen to her I got a harsh push on my back. When I did nothing but curve my arms around Sam in a more protective manner she got more upset. "YOU LITTLE SHIT, I SAID MOVE YOU'RE ASS OUT OF THE WAY!" She started kicking my legs and pushing me more roughly, I tried not to react to her words, they were meaningless anyway. I try to not wince much ar scream in pain, so that the calmer I am, the calmer Sam will be."JUST LET ME HAVE MY FUN WITH THIS BASTARD AND I WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE! HE DESERVES IT ANYWAY!" She screamed at me making me snap.

"Sammy, can you go to my room and tell Alex that I am near Dr. Brown, and that after he leaves I need him?" I question softly setting him on the ground but still blocking him. Still sobbing he nods and runs away.

Doctor Brown was one of the safe words I set up with Alex. I hoped to teach them to everyone else, but haven't. Dr. Brown is a security code, mean threat of violence, or sometimes security is needed. If he is needed after Dr. Brown leaves, I am saying after the danger is gone I will need him.

When I turned around to her she backhanded me in the face making my head rip around and almost stumble.

I take a step closer to her, "Mrs. Caster, I think you should leave." I try to tell her, not saying that she should leave this room, saying she should leave this house. I try not to shake while standing up to her, but when she is yelling I can't help it sometimes.
