Charisma was never my best trait.
But I am not a bad person either.
So when redhead the girl who I immediately identified as someone that is a no-go walked into the room, I was torn.
On one hand, I could be mean, like she was to me. On the other, she looked important to Dick, and he is my brother after all. So if I have to play nice to make everyone happy... so be it.
"Hey." I don't turn to her when she calls to me. She stands on the ground around 30 feet below me.
"Hey." I turn over my shoulder slightly when replying. I watch her look around the room probably for a ladder or something, but there isn't one.
"Mind if I join you?" She asks, even though she can't even get up here.
"Not at all. Head towards the Ly-Hoop." I almost call it a Lyra, but then realize she might not know what it is. I crawl to where the top of the Lyra is and realize that it has a device I didn't notice before. It makes it so that it can move up and down. "May as well try it now," I mutter to myself and look down at redhead.
"What do you want me to do with it?" She pushes it lightly, making it spin.
"Sit on it. Hold on tight. I will help you get up once you get high enough." I tell her and watch her comprehend my words.
Her eyes widen but she gets on it none the less. She sits on it like a swing and holds each side. Once I am sure she is on I look back to the contraption beside me.
I see a timer, and note it for future reference, before seeing a button and pressing it. Suddenly it starts to move up, very slowly though. I look on the machine and find a small dial, I turn it slightly so it moves a little faster.
"What now?" It has gotten as high up as it can go, unfortunately, there is still a seven-foot gap between us.
Instead of answering her, or even coming up with a plan, I do something without realizing it. Again.
I am suddenly off the side of the path and have one leg wrapped around the silk at the top of the hoop, and the other against the rope. Because she is still sitting there is a couple feet between us still.
"I am going to need you to do something for me," I tell her looking at our situation. "You are going to need to move your hands, so they are holding the hoop above your head, and carefully stand up." I try not to shake the hoop or anything while telling her this. Even if you aren't afraid of heights, the mats below aren't going to be soft from this height that's for sure.
Also standing on something not even wider then your foot can be scary.
She takes a couple shaky breaths but node, sliding her hands above her head, still holding onto the hoop. She then stands up, with shaky legs. I only now realize that there is still a couple inches between our hands.
Too many inches.
Without realizing what I am doing, which tends to happen more often nowadays, I drop again.
Redhead gasps and looks at me, while I process what to do next.
I am currently doing a handstand on top of the hoop, while redhead is standing in it.
I get down more, so I am right next to her. "Get on my back." It seems like a simple command. Redhead should just move one hand, and one foot to the opposite side of me, the jump and sit on my back. But instead, she makes a big deal out of it.
