They are not stupid. I know that for sure. So I wonder why it was so easy to sneak out. They probably watched me sneak out, and just didn't want to go after me. That is the reason that makes the most sense.
After lunch, I had emailed Ronald, the ower of Wild Side, a pub in Gotham I performed for him a few times, and he is a sweet dude. He agreed to let me perform tonight using the Lyra.
So I spent the rest of the day like normal. I put on my leotard and cover-up dress, with sweatpants and a sweater above it.
I glared at Bruce, as usual, and ate a small amount, before asking to be excused. I snuck up over the gate and made my way here.
Simple.
Except now Ronald is rambling about how much he missed me, and how everyone loves when I perform, and how nobody else was as good at using aerial supplies.
"Cut the crap, Ron. What are you up to?" I step back and glare at him playfully.
"There are some rich folks in the crowd. I need you to put on a show." Ron grins. He doesn't always get rich folks in the crowd, usually because they think this place isn't classy enough or something.
"When do I not?" I laugh at him, and he chuckles too.
"You are on in five. Wait for your queue." He rushes out of the room after letting me know, probably to serve the rich folks.
I quickly take off my extra clothes, so I am in my leotard and dress. I throw my hair into a neat bun and do some warmups and pick out what song I want.
"Jared!" I walk into the sound booth and see Jared sitting there drinking soda. When I yell he almost drops it over the computers.
"ALLISON! Hey! What brings you here?" He gives me a quick hug before sitting down again.
"Put on Cry Me A River, I am just dropping by Gotham for a while. You will be seeing more of me." I lightly punch his arm and laugh.
He chuckles and salutes me, going on his computer to find my song.
I leave to wait for my queue.
About a minute passes before I hear my queue. "We have a special performance for you tonight! A fan favorite, amazing aerialist! ALLISA GRAY!" I run on stage when he announces my name. I smile and wave at nobody in particular.
I walked over to the Lyra and waited for the music to start. Once it did I grabbed the hoop and spun.
Then I held the rope and let the Jared move the rope up.
Jared is in charge of everything technology. He does sound, lights, and effects. So with this performance, he would be sitting in his office, moving the Lyra up and down, whenever needed. Although I have to give him the signal, he has to move it up and down when needed.
I perform this song for Dick.
I performed it because he says he cares now and wants me back in his life, but he didn't before. because I cried for him before. I cried a bunch of useless shitty tears.
And now he says he cares.
I start to feel weightless. Happy. So fucking happy. I feel like I am unstoppable.
Like I can do anything.
But all good things must come to an end.
So I spin, I spin in the air. I continue to spin when getting lowered. I spin on the ground.
