Sneaking out of the manor was easier than I thought, although I did almost run into Alfred. I heard Bruce talking to someone, so he was distracted making it easier to go unnoticed.

I left a note, which I hope they see. I was a little harsh in it but my hope is that if Dick finds it rude enough eh will give up and let me be.

I lied about having a job. I just don't want to use his money. Then he might think that I owe him something since he was giving me money. Not to mention that I would be relying on him for it. Relying on someone, and owing people, are things that I hate.

I would rather owe nobody and rely on myself.

But of course, I do owe a few people things. Roy Harper, for helping me out a couple times, although he always comes to me for help too. I owe Harley Quinn because she was the one to get Joker away from me that day he almost killed me. I also owe Leonard Snart or Captain Cold, for saving my life one time a while ago.

I say three people is a pretty low number for an 18-year-old to owe. Especially if two out of the three people Ionly owe only because they saved my life.

Now I am on my way back to the apartments, where I will be staying again. Hopefully, I will be able to stay here for a while before Since I have been on the streets a while and established some connections, I am cool with a lot of these people.

I wouldn't say any of them are my friends, but I am cool with them. They aren't too bad, but they are horrible people. Every single one of them has probably broken a law in this past month.

Being cool with them just means we have a mutual agreement. We warn each other about cops and such, and otherwise, don't bother each other.

But every once in a while some people will come around and try to start something. Usually, they are easy to handle and make connections with, but sometimes it is like trying to make a deal with a dog.

Not impossible, you will have to trust me on that, but excruciatingly hard.

I put on a neutral face and nod to a few people I pass, and make my way towards the familiar apartment building I always seem to go to.

"Oh dear, you are back! Here is your key, feel free to stay as long as you like!" As soon as I enter the building Mrs. Henshaw comes towards me and gives me a tight hug. She shoves the key in my hand and walks me towards the stairs. "Sorry about the rush  today, but there is going to be a sale today and I want to make sure everyone is alright before I go." She stops at the stairs and pats me on the back before rushing out the door. "Happy Birthday!" She calls right before the door shuts.

I wear a sad smile as I climb up the stairs towards my apartment. At least I know who have people I can count on.

Even if it is all the wrong people.

I open my door and walk inside, hearing it close behind me. It is around noon now so not much going on. I drop my bags down in my bedroom and sit next to them, with my back against the wall.

I am exhausted.

And I haven't even done anything.

I debate going to sleep, but a tap on my window tells me that won't be happening. I sit up straight and grab a knife from my bag, look at the window again.

  There is nothing there.

I walk towards the window and unlock it. I step to the side once I whip it open and wait for something to happen.
