Show off?

I hear the door closing and sudden movement in the house.
"Liv we are here and so is dad!"Lou exclaims
"Come on Liv we know you're in your room,"Amy exclaims
"Don't make me drag you out here,"Mallory warns my eyes go wide and I freeze.
Is it too late to jump out the window and run?
Would mom be ok with this?
What if he hates me?
What if he really doesn't know I exists?
All theses thoughts run quick in my head until my thoughts are interrupted.
"Liv?"I heard Tim I mean dad ask
I knew it he doesn't know me!
"Mom gave her the nickname it just kind of sticked,"Amy explains to dad
I hear some chit chat going on mostly dad asking Amy about Spartan.
My nerves are taking over very bad.
What's a good way to introduce myself?
I wonder so I start to pace myself my room "rehearsing" trying to think of the proper way to introduce myself. After "rehearsing" for a while I discovered something....there is no proper way for an introduction.
I take a deep breath put my hand on the doorknob and slowly start to turn it. I apply weight on the door and try to silently open it. I walk down the hallways slowly trying to not make much noise but we've got wooden floors so I can't help it. I see dad's holding a picture of mom, just staring at it. I make a slight noise clearing me throat. He suddenly turns around.
"I Uh I guess you're Tim I mean my dad,"I say stuttering
"You look just like your mom-and me,"he says
I walk up to him and hold my hand out
"I'm Liv,"I say
He looks at me funky
"Is this how you greet your dad?"he asks
He then hugs me and I hug him back.
"You have no idea for how long I wanted to meet you Olivia,"dad says I give a slight smile
"Why didn't you before?"I ask as we pull out of the hug
Dad looks at me stunned or dumbfounded. Did I say something wrong?
"No one has told you?"dad asked
"No I just thought there was relationship problems that's all. Is there something wrong?"I ask hesitantly
Seems like Lou walks in awkwardly hearing of what I just asked dad
"It's about time you're here Liv I need you to help me setting it up now,"Lou instructs trying to change the awkward subject. I then follow behind her
"What kind of question is that?"Lou whispers to me. I ignore her.
I find Mallory here, I smile I'm glad she's here to help me get through this.
"How'd you do it?"I ask in curiosity of how she convinced Lou to let her eat with us since Lou originally planned this to be between only "family" , when honestly Mallory is just as much family!
"This face is enough,"she smiles I giggle of course Mallory would win her way in here to join us I mean she is family after all!
"Girls! A little help her!"Lou exclaims being the Party pooper she usually is.Mallory and I just roll our eyes and kind of giggle and get back to work helping out setting up this table.

"I was thinking we could do um trail rides aimed at a corporate client's from like what you can learn from a horse that'll make you a better executive. It's all about branding really,"Lou explains to dad about boring business stuff I barely understand
"I get it horses and executives both full of crap,"Ty jokes this is the best thing I've heard all day! we all giggle except her.
"It's all about teamwork you know. It's knowing when to lead when to follow overcoming fear. I mean they do team building exercise rock climbing,fire walking-"Lou starts
"Yeah yeah yeah I think you're on to something, so Liv what do you like to do?"dad asks
"Um I like jumping,"I say
"Just like your sisters...sayAmy when are we going to see you jump Spartan?"dad asks Amy
"Well I'm going to the arena later so you can come and watch if you want, I mean you don't have to,"Amy replies to dad
"Can you guys at least wait till dessert,"Lou says standing immediately obviously disturbed
"I'll help you,"Ty says getting up
"Me too,"Amy says leaving too
This leaves Mallory, dad and I.
Mallory moves closer to dad oh no here comes the good scoop as always.
"So Mr.Fleming,"she starts
"Tim you can call me Tim,"dad says
"Ok Tim I've heard a lot about you, I mean the drugs, the accident, the rehab and don't get me started on all those things with Jack,"Mallory states wait what why am I hearing this from her?!
"Wait! what?! you knew about this and I didn't!"I exclaim upset at Mallory upset
Dad just takes a deep breath with everything being so overwhelming.

~At the Arena~
Amy is showing dad her progress with Spartan in jumping. If you think about it based on what I remember from the very first time Spartan came to today there has been a drastic improvement. It's all because it's very obvious that Amy has Inherited mother's gift oh how I wish I did too.I really did look up to my mom ugh I miss her so much.
"Good job Amy but you can tell that horse has a lot more jump in him,"Dad states I turn to him. Is he aware of this situation it's even a miracle that Amy is riding him from that time mom and her has ever gotten Spartan. When Amy finishes dad lifts the jumps which only puts pressure to Amy.
Amy starts to list out all the reasons why she can't jump higher especially wo very important ones such as well she's is still training him and the fact mom is not here and her techniques would really help. Me being my mom's student for a very long I could not agree more.
"Well Lou how about you show your sisters how it's done,"dad says
Huh? I thought Lou was afraid of horses how could she possibly know
"You have more ribbons than what you can fill your wall,"Dad says
"Really?"I question
"Yes Liv believe it or not your sister used to be a true champion,"dad explains
"Hence the word used to. Dada I no longer compete anymore,"Lou says
Amy nods her head as if this is a really bad idea.
"I can show her,"I say raising my hand Any and Lou looks at me as if some sense of jealousy ran over. I don't know it's weird I've never had this sensation to show off but it's my dad I want to show him I'm a really good rider too!
"No no it's fine Liv Lou is older it's best she shows,"dad says...um...ouch!
"But I used to be on the national junior Olympic team,"I say
"'Used to? what happened?"dad asks me
"Uh um I no longer have a coach,"I explain
"Come on Lou your sisters really need someone to look up to show them what you can do unless your scared?"dad asks this really boiled her up.
"I'm not scared. Give me a lift!"Lou exclaims. Amy helps her up and hands her the helmet. Amy whispers to her that she should tell dad the truth but Lou still does not give in. I guess some since of pride/proving to someone had gotten to our heads today.
All I can think though is that this can't get end well.....
